Chaotic Response and Bifurcation Analysis of a Timoshenko Beam with Backlash Support Subjected to Moving Masses [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Railway Research, 2014
A simply supported Timoshenko beam with an intermediate backlash is considered. The beam equations of motion are obtained based on the Timoshenko beam theory by including the dynamic effect of a moving mass travelling along the vibrating path.

Boundary unique continuation in planar domains by conformal mapping

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 58, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Let Ω⊂R2$\Omega \subset \mathbb {R}^2$ be a chord arc domain. We give a simple proof of the the following fact, which is commonly known to be true: a nontrivial harmonic function which vanishes continuously on a relatively open set of the boundary cannot have the norm of the gradient which vanishes on a subset of positive surface measure (arc ...

Collective lattice excitations in the dynamic route for melting hydrodynamic two-dimensional crystals

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Liquid surface stiffness generates stable Faraday wave (FW) patterns, known as hydrodynamic crystals, which form resonant FW lattices composed of discrete harmonics and subharmonics under monochromatic driving.

Bifurcation-Harmonic Coupling Mechanism and Subharmonic Threshold of One-Dimensional Nonlinear Elastic Waves

open access: yes工程科学与技术
Objective Nonlinear harmonics act as sensitive indicators for material early degradation and microdamage. However, their generation is highly dependent on excitation frequency, amplitude and the nonlinear dynamic state of materials, leading to empirical ...
