Low threshold for subharmonic generation in fractal piezoelectric composites

open access: yes, 1992
We observed subharmonic Lamb modes in composite piezoelectric plates with self-similar structure. The thresholds for their generation are very low as compared to those of homogeneous or periodical plates with comparable acoustical and electrical ...

Modulation of Non‐Rhythmic Temporal Prediction by Subthalamic Nucleus Deep Brain Stimulation (STN‐DBS) in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 992-1003, April 2026.
Background Accurate temporal prediction, essential for adaptive motor behavior, relies on corticobasal ganglia circuits. In Parkinson's disease (PD), both motor and non‐motor functions are impaired. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the subthalamic nucleus (STN) effectively alleviates motor symptoms, but its effects on non‐motor domains, like temporal ...

Interaction of Subharmonic Light Modes with Three-Level Atom

open access: yes, 2019
We have considered the interaction of the subharmonic light modes with a three-level atom. We have found that the effect of this interaction is to decrease the quadrature squeezing and the mean photon number of the two-mode cavity light.

Experiment on Unsymmetrical Subharmonic Oscillations in a Symmetrical Three-Phase Circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This paper presents several results of experiments on the generation of 1/3-subharmonic oscillations in a nonlinear symmetrical three-phase circuit. Particular attention is paid to the generation of unsymmetrical modes.

Studying subharmonic modes of vibrations on the example of a system with two degree of freedoms under pulse loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Робота присвячена проблемі пошуку та аналізу субгармонійних режимів у нелінійних коливальних системах. Запропоновано інтегральний підхід до оцінки кожного коливання та їх безпосереднього порівняння між собою, використовуючи базові, первинні результати ...

All‐sky assimilation impacts of the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder constellation on global weather forecasts

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 152, Issue 776, April 2026 Part A.
Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...

Competition between drift and topological transport of colloidal particles in twisted magnetic patterns

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We simulate the motion of paramagnetic particles between two magnetic patterns with hexagonal symmetry that are twisted at a magic angle. The resulting Morié pattern develops flat channels in the magnetic potential along which colloidal particles can be ...

On Nonlinear Oscillations: Basins of Attraction, Harmonic Balance Solution Artifacts and Urabe's Existence Criterion for the Duffing Oscillator

open access: yesZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, Volume 106, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT The Duffing oscillator is often considered as “the” prototype of a nonlinear oscillator as it exhibits many characteristic phenomena of nonlinear dynamics. One of these phenomena is the occurrence of multiple periodic solutions as considered here for the case of the harmonically excited slightly damped Duffing oscillator.

A Q-switched, mode-locked fiber laser employing subharmonic cavity modulation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2011
We present a new and simple approach for the generation of Q-switched, mode-locked pulses from a laser cavity. The approach is based on cavity loss modulation that employs a subharmonic frequency of the fundamental intermode frequency spacing. A range of experiments have been carried out using an erbium-doped fiber-based ring cavity laser in order to ...
