Schwannoma of the submandibular gland
Head & Neck, 1991AbstractNeurilemmomas (schwannomas) are solitary neurogenic tumors that arise from cells of the neural sheath. They are slow growing and represent a proliferation of Schwann cells. Extracranial neurogenic tumors of the head and neck are uncommon, with benign tumors occurring with greater frequency than malignant tumors. These tumors often mimic primary

A Mucocele of the Submandibular Gland
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1985We encountered an unusual case of a mucocele arising from the submandibular gland. Among the limited number of cystic salivary gland neoplasms reported in the literature, there have been no reports, to our knowledge, of a similar cystic lesion. The unique characteristics of this mass permitted definitive diagnosis by computed tomographic scanning.

Tumors involving the submandibular gland are rare. However, the incidence of malignancy is much higher than in the parotid (approaching 50 percent). In addition, the 5-year survival rate in patients with malignant tumors of the submandibular gland is much poorer in our series--28 percent versus 71.8 percent for the parotid gland.

Submandibular Gland Sialoangiography
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1969AN IMPROVED technique of submandibular sialoangiography is presented. This method gives a more complete visualization of the submandibular gland duct system, allowing better evaluation of pathologic conditions of the gland. Although parotid sialoangiography is widely used, and results are commonly reported, survey of the literature reveals a paucity of

Nodular fasciitis of the submandibular gland
BMJ Case Reports, 2022A woman in her 20s presented with a non-tender swelling of the right submandibular gland. Ultrasound was suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma. The histology result of the excised tumour later confirmed a diagnosis of nodular fasciitis which is extremely rare in the submandibular gland. Postoperatively, she has made good recovery.

Basket Submandibular Gland Suspension
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2008Correction of a ptotic submandibular gland is a considerable challenge in neck rejuvenation. The authors describe a new technique, basket submandibular gland suspension, for the effective long-term ...

Accessory Lobe of the Submandibular Gland
Radiology, 1973Two patients with ectopic accessory lobes of the submandibular gland are discussed. The diagnosis was established conclusively by sialography. The embryological origin of the submandibular and sublingual glands is discussed to explain the genesis of this unusual anatomical variant.
