Microsphere‐Templated Conductive Syntactic Foams for Recyclable and Additively Manufactured Soft Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a microsphere‐templated strategy to fabricate reprocessable PEDOT:PSS syntactic foams with tunable porosity, stable conductivity, and 3D printability. In situ PEDOT:PSS coatings create a conductive network that maintains electrical performance at high void fractions.

Electrically Readable Lateral Flow Assay Using Organic Transistors for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic field‐effect transistors (EGOFETs) are integrated with lateral flow (LF) paper fluidics to create a reusable, portable, and low‐cost point‐of‐care (PoC) diagnostic test. The devices are validated for Human Immunoglobulin G detection, achieving high sensitivity (0.1 fm), selectivity, and reproducibility with rapid results in 20–

Comparative Study on the Interaction Between Underwater Explosion Bubbles and Elastic Plates with Vertical and Horizontal Orientations

open access: yesVibration
Underwater explosion bubbles generate intense pressure pulses and high-speed re-entrant jets during their expansion and collapse processes, posing significant threats to ships and submerged structures. In practical engineering, plate-like structures with

Flow-induced Vibrations of a Horizontal Elastic Band Plate Submerged in Fluid of Finite Depth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The paper deals with forced vibrations of a horizontal thin elastic plate submerged in a semi-infinite layer of fluid of constant depth. The pressure load on this plate is induced by water waves arriving at the plate. This load is accompanied by pressure

Localized Temperature Monitoring in Mouse Brain during Light Delivery via a Non‐Planar Tapered Fiber‐Integrated µRTD Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Current effects on nonlinear wave scattering by a submerged plate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
On the basis of a time-domain higher-order boundary element method, a two-dimensional fully nonlinear numerical wave flume is developed to investigate the nonlinear interactions between a regular wave and a submerged horizontal plate in the presence of ...

High Center‐of‐Mass, Multi‐Legged Soft Robots Powered by Geometrically Encoded Liquid Crystal Elastomer Arc Appendages

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the octopus and the golden wheel spider, soft robots with liquid crystal elastomer arc fibers as appendages are fabricated to transcend surface constraints through an elevated center of mass and minimal contact footprints. By leveraging curvature‐encoded deformation‐recovery cycles, these robots exhibit contractile, torsional, and flexural ...

Neutron Reflectometry and Compression of Graded Hydrogel Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Highly‐entangled and covalently‐crosslinked hydrogels with thin and thick surface gel layers are compressed in neutron reflectometry experiments. Surface gel layer thickness dictates the extent to which the polymer network at the surface of a hydrogel collapses, while crosslinking chemistry, and therefore elastic modulus, impacts the pressure at which ...
