A Soft, Flexible Implant for Wireless Photothermal–Pyroelectric Neurostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A replication strategy is used to enlarge the exposed surface area of barium titanate within flexible films with embedded carbon nanotubes, enabling efficient photothermal‐pyroelectric stimulation. Polar crystalline nanosheets show superior performance in guiding neural progenitor cells toward neuronal differentiation.

Numerical Investigation of Inclination Effects on a Submerged Plate as Breakwater and Wave Energy Converter Under Realistic Sea State Waves

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This study investigates the influence of inclination on a submerged plate (SP) device acting as both a breakwater (BW) and a wave energy converter (WEC) subjected to representative regular and realistic irregular waves of a sea state across 11 ...

Hydroelastic Response of a Submerged Plate to Long Waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This study is concerned with the deformation of an elastic submerged plate in shallow water by nonlinear long waves. The submerged plate is fixed in its horizontal position, but may deform in the vertical direction due to time- and spatial-variant wave ...

3D Large‐Scale Subwavelength‐Resolution Sound Sheet Tomography Based on an Active and Programmable Circular Meta‐Array

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable 2048‐element circular ultrasound array combined with a compact acoustic lens produces a thin “sound sheet” over a large field of view, and records echoes with wide angular diversity across the ring aperture. Coherence‐enhanced beamforming converts full‐matrix data into high‐contrast tomographic slices, delivering near‐diffraction‐limited

Miniaturized Bidirectional Thermal Stimulation System Integrated With an Electrode Array for Recording Neural Activities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a miniaturized bidirectional thermal stimulation system integrated with an electrode array enabling real‐time, bidirectional modulation and simultaneous recording of neural activity through localized heating and cooling. By monolithic integration of the Peltier element and with a silicon neural probe, the innovative system allows ...

Surge forces of a FPSO at Lee side of submerged plate in regular waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A submerged horizontal plate type breakwater is not only to be good energy dissipates of wave breaking on the top of the plate, but also to generate steady flow and to reproduce shorter waves. This paper assessed a submerged plate which is applied to set

Two Routes to Land: Genomic Underpinnings of Parallel Aerial Egg Deposition in Aquatic Old‐World Pila and New‐World Pomacea (Ampullariidae)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Comparative genomics of Gondwana‐diverged Pila and Pomacea reveals parallel evolution of aerial oviposition. Convergent chromosomal rearrangements reshape regulatory landscapes within topologically associating domains. Lineage‐specific gene family expansions and viral‐derived perivitelline proteins (PV1) underpin desiccation resistance.

Wireless, Adaptable and Fully Implantable Battery‐powered Devices for Optical Stimulation of the Spinal Cord in Small Rodents

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current technologies for spinal cord optogenetic stimulation rely on external power sources and face reliability constraints in freely behaving animals. Here, a fully implantable, battery‐powered optoelectronic device is introduced, enabling operation in any selected environment with wireless recharging for months‐long stimulation.

Added mass for plates partially submerged in water [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Added mass values for plates partially submerged in water are obtained from a series of experiments. Both solid and perforated plates are tested. Each plate is circular and is constrained to move as a piston in a horizontal cylindrical container.
