Influences of different hydraulic gradients on flow structures near submerged spur dike

open access: yesShuili Shuiyun Gongcheng Xuebao, 2017
Using ultrasonic wave and PIV technical methods for measuring water level and velocity respectively, the influences of different hydraulic gradients on the flow structures near a submerged spur dike are studied by laboratory experiments in a U-shape ...

VISUALIZATION ANALYSIS OF FLOW STRUCTURES IN SUBMERGED SPUR DIKES

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2000
It is important to clarify three-dimensional flow structures and instantaneous vortex structures in order to understand the mechanism of sediment transport and water quality exchange in spur-dike regions. In this study, characteristics of organized vortex structures around the submerged spur dikes were investigated by using PIV method.

Experimental study on local scouring of submerged spur dike head under bottom protection condition

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2016
Submerged spur dike is a kind of typical navigation project regulating structure. During the project implementation, the protection of local scouring near the head is especially important.

MOVABLE BED SCOUR AROUND SUBMERGED SPUR-DIKES

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2001
This paper presents the results of an exploratory study on scour occurring around submerged spur-dike. The effect of flow depth and spur-dike dimensions was studied with the help of the experimental data. It was found that the overtopping ratio and the opening ratio are significantly affected on the maximum scour depth.

Flow force characteristics of new-type structure submerged spur dike during deep waterway regulation

open access: yesShuili Shuiyun Gongcheng Xuebao, 2018
In order to study the flow force characteristics of a new-type submerged spur dike, a 3D mathematical model is developed by using the fluid calculation software Fluent to study the flow force characteristics of the new-type spur dike with tooth-shaped ...

The Effects of Permeable, Impermeable and Bandal-like Spur-dike Angel On Geometric Dimensions of Scouring In Submerged Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2017
The purpose of this study is to compare the scouring hole geometric dimensions for three kinds of spur-dike: permeable, impermeable and bandal-like for submerged conditions by conducting a set of experimental tests.

Reduction of local scouring with protective spur dike [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
One of the main parameters in design of spur dikes is the estimation of local scour depth around their tail. Spur dikes are usually built in series and their stability depends on the stability of the first spur dike.

Tidal Bore Scour around a Spur Dike

open access: yes, 2022
Tidal bores are a natural phenomenon with high flow velocity and destructive potential. A spur dike is a widely used river regulation and embankment protection structure that minimizes erosion, promotes deposition, and protects riverbanks.

Effects of Submerged Spur Dikes on the Ecosystem and Bed Deformation in Youngcheon River Bend [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korea Society of Environmental Restoration Technology, 2013
In order to assess the effects of ecosystem and landscape in around spur dikes, this study had carried out monitoring on the changes of ecosystem and morphologic characteristics in around spur dikes that had been settled in bend of Youngcheon River. The study site was a short reach with length 190m, spur dikes were installed in March, 2008.

Experimental Study on Effects of Permeability and Spur Dike Series Length on Scour-Hole Dimensions in a 90° mild bend under non-submerged conditions [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2017
River changes happen due to the periodic erosion and sedimentation along river bed, destruction and widening of river banks, movement of the meandering pattern and flow direction, changing of river form (braided, sinusoidal, and straight), and shortcut ...
