A NUMERICAL METHOD OF 3-D FLOW AROUND SUBMERGED SPUR-DIKES

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2000
A large-eddy simulation tool is adopted to simulate the three-dimensional flow around the submerged spur-dikes. A numerical method is put forward to compute the three-dimensional flow with free surface and complex boundaries. The numerical method is established on the base of finite-volume/finitedifference method with staggered grid.

Numerical Simulation of the effect of L-shaped spur dike wing length on scouring at a 90 ° bend. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Spur dike is one of the common structures in organizing and controlling erosion on the river bank. On the other hand, the placement of the spur dike in the bended part of the river, while removing strong currents from the shore and directing the flow to ...

Experimental Study on Sediment Control in a Lateral Intake Channel by Using a Spur Dike Combined with a Skimming Wall [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering and Environmental Science
Water diversion using lateral intakes often leads to the issue of sediment entering water transmission systems. Failure to control sediment at the intake results in its transfer into irrigation canals and facilities, causing numerous problems in various ...

Experimental Investigation on the Scour Hole Geometric Dimensions in Different Spur Dikes in 90 Degree Bend for Non-Submerged Conditions

open access: yesمجله آب و خاک, 2017
Introduction: Outer bank region is always exposed to destruction and scour due to secondary flow. Different methods are generally used to protect the outer bank. One of the most common and economical ways is spur dike.

Riverbed Morphologies Induced by Local Scour Processes at Single Spur Dike and Spur Dikes in Cascade

open access: yes, 2023
Spur dikes are elongated structures extending from banks into rivers that mitigate erosion by forcing the flow away from the bank. The research on grouped spur dikes is insufficient in comparison with those on isolated spur dikes.

Construction of Meandering Channel and Its Application in Investigation of Bed Topography around Hydraulic Structures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydraulic Structures
Considering river behavior analysis, numerous researchers worldwide have so far attempted to construct experimental channels. Beginning from the upstream side, the channel respectively consisted of an 8-meter-long straight path, two consecutive 180 ...

EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF FLOW BEHAVIOR AROUND SUBMERGED SPUR-DIKE ON RIGID BED

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2000
This paper presents the results of an experimental study of flow behavior around submerged dikes on rigid bed. The studies of flow behavior including water surface profiles and velocity profiles around a single dike with different cases were carried out with steady uniform flow on smooth rigid bed.

EFFECTS OF PERMEABILITY ON RIVER-BED FORMATION USING SUBMERGED SPUR-DIKE GROUPS

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2008
Continuous submerged groynes can be used to create diverse riverbed configuration. However, scour holes were too large to make groynes unstable in case of impermeable and rigid structures. In order to reduce the scour depth, we used permeable and flexible groynes, that is, gabions.

Dissecting the dissection laboratory: Elements for designing a human anatomy laboratory

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The human anatomy dissection laboratory is a critical component of anatomical and medical education. Development, maintenance, and stocking of these laboratory spaces have unique demands, with all of the challenges in running a laboratory with Biosafety Laboratory Level 2 (BSL‐2) classification, housing a large volume of tissues saturated with
