Capitals internacionais: complementares ou substitutos?

open access: yesEconomia Aplicada, 2003
This paper presents a theoretical and empirical analysis of the substitutability of international private capital flows. Both univariate and multivariate investigations of the capital movements related to the Brazilian economy during the period 1991 ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

NCAM-CS: neural combinatorial auction mechanisms with item complementarity and substitutability

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences
Combinatorial auctions are widely used for resource allocation, where bidders often submit bids on bundles because of inter-item relations such as complementarity and substitutability.

Species Preservation and Biodiversity Value: A Real Options Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
We evaluate biodiversity in a real options framework, when the resources in use are substitutable. We examine optimal conservation decisions given that a biodiversity loss is irreversible and that future use values are uncertain.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Hubungan Kebijakan Hutang, Insider Ownership dan Kebijakan Dividen dalam Mekanisme Pengawasan Masalah Agensi di Indonesia

open access: yesJurnal Akuntansi dan Auditing Indonesia, 2009
This study investigates the substitution relationship (substitutability) among debt policy, insider ownership, and dividend policy as the agency problem control mechanism in Indonesia.
