This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Formalization of Component Substitutability
Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE) is increasingly used to develop large scale software. In this context, a complex software is composed of many software components which are developed independently and which are considered as black boxes ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Let $K$ be a field and $P=K[x_1,\dots,x_n]$. The technique of elimination by substitution is based on discovering a coherently $Z=(z_1,\dots,z_s)$-separating tuple of polynomials $(f_1,\dots,f_s)$ in an ideal $I$, i.e., on finding polynomials such that $f_i = z_i - h_i$ with $h_i \in K[X \setminus Z]$.

Giffen Behaviour and Asymmetric Substitutability [PDF]
Let a consumer consume two goods, and let good 1 be a Giffen good. Then a well-known necessary condition for such behaviour is that good 1 is an inferior good.

Optimization model of staffing for aircraft ground handling in the case of personnel substitutability [PDF]
The presented article deals with the mathematical modeling of aircraft ground handling on the service apron to utilize ground personnel more efficiently in the case of existing substitutability of workers.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

On the Relation between Discounting of Climate Change and Edgeworth-Pareto Substitutability
To justify substantial carbon emission reductions, recent literature on cost-benefit analysis of climate change suggests discounting environmental quality at a lower discount rate than the standard consumption discount rate.
