Carnosinases, Their Substrates and Diseases
Carnosinases are Xaa-His dipeptidases that play diverse functions throughout all kingdoms of life. Human isoforms of carnosinase (CN1 and CN2) under appropriate conditions catalyze the hydrolysis of the dipeptides carnosine (β-alanyl-L-histidine) and homocarnosine (γ-aminobutyryl-L-histidine).

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Chondro progenitor cell response to specifically modified substrate interfaces [PDF]
Current visions in cartilage repair aim at moving from fibrocartilaginous to a more hyaline like repair tissue by combining autologous cells of different origins (in situ recruited or in vitro precultivated) with repair supporting biomaterials.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Substrate-Controlled Regioselective Arylations of 2‑Indolylmethanols with Indoles: Synthesis of Bis(indolyl)methane and 3,3′-Bisindole Derivatives [PDF]
A substrate-controlled regioselective arylation of 2-indolylmethanols with indoles has been established, which efficiently afforded bis(indolyl)methane and 3,3′-bisindole derivatives in high yields and with a broad substrate scope (up to 98% yield, 36 ...
