Waveguide and substrate integrated waveguide for Ku band: A comparison
2012 1st International Conference on Recent Advances in Information Technology (RAIT), 2012A comparison between the Waveguide and its equivalent Substrate Integrated Waveguide is done. HFSS simulation software is used for all the simulations. An optimum equivalent is found from the various parametric variations.

A 300-GHz hetero-generous package solution with a combination of a polyimide microstrip-to-waveguide transition on low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) is presented. To assemble three parts-a metal back-short, polyimide transition, and LTCC substrate integrated waveguide (SIW)-a ridged microstructure beside the microstrip probe was implemented to ...

Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW)
2021 XXXIVth General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS), 2021Guided-wave structures are no doubt the most fundamental building elements of high-frequency antennas, circuits and systems. They are usually composed of metallic and dielectric topologies or mixed forms of both, which are made in the form of planar and non-planar geometries, depending on design approaches, processing technologies and application ...

Substrate Integrated Waveguide-to-Microstrip Transition in Multilayer Substrate
2007 IEEE/MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, 2007This paper presents a novel transition between a microstrip line and a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) in a multilayer substrate design environment. In order to achieve a low-loss broadband response, the transition, consisting of a tapered or multisectional ridged SIW and a tapered microstrip line, is modeled and designed by simultaneously ...

Crosstalk in Substrate Integrated Waveguides
IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2015Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) represents an emerging technology for the implementation of waveguide components in planar form, in the frequency range of microwaves and mm-waves. While the SIW is similar to a classical metallic waveguide, the structure is not completely shielded and may be subject to a radiation leakage.

Substrate Integrated Waveguides with Moats
Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2009A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) equipped with moats is investigated in this paper. Different from the commonly used SIW having dense via holes, this new SIW employed sparse via holes incorporating moats outside the via-hole arrays. Through numerous experimental studies, we found that it can maintain high transmission characteristics by ...

On the losses in substrate integrated waveguides
2007 European Microwave Conference, 2007This paper presents a study of losses in substrate integrated waveguide. Three mechanisms of losses are considered and separately investigated: side radiation, ohmic loss, and dielectric loss. A systematic comparison of waveguides with different geometry, operating in the same frequency band, is reported.

Substrate integrated rectangular waveguides
High Frequency Postgraduate Student Colloquium, 2004, 2004This paper investigates forming rectangular waveguides using printed circuit boards, which would potentially offer an extremely cheap and reliable means of providing a low loss transmission line for high frequency systems. A waveguide was synthesised, using metallized vias to form the edge of the waveguide - these designs are sometimes termed SIRWs ...

Ridged substrate integrated waveguide
2012 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology (ICMMT), 2012In this paper, a ridged substrate integrated waveguide is introduced, which has lower cutoff frequency of TE 10 mode than without ridge. The cutoff conditions and transmission performances of ridged substrate integrated waveguide are studied theoretically. And an example is produced for confirmation.

Analysis of Substrate Integrated Waveguides
2022By using a transverse resonance technique, the frequency characteristics of slotted substrate integrated waveguides (SSIWs), slotted half mode substrate integrated waveguides (slotted HMSIWs) and slotted parallel plate SIWs loaded with capacitances and inductances are analyzed theoretically and related to those of conventional waveguides.
