Effect of Substrate Temperature on Cold-Gas-Sprayed Coatings on Ceramic Substrates

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2012
Abstract The focus of this study is to deposit metallic coatings onto ceramic substrates for application in power electronics. One possibility to achieve the required surface activation is to heat the substrate during spraying. An increased substrate temperature significantly influences bond strength and coating properties.

Low-temperature growth on Si(111) substrates

Physical Review B, 1994
Low-temperature (T150 K) reflection high-energy electron-diffraction (RHEED) oscillations during the growth of ultrathin films suggest the presence of nonzero adatom mobility. In most systems thermal diffusion cannot account for the observed oscillations, and the origin of the oscillations is still unclear.

Substrate effect on the melting temperature of gold nanoparticles

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2012
Previous experimental, molecular dynamics, and thermodynamic researches on the melting temperature of Au nanoparticles on tungsten substrate provide entirely different results. To account for the substrate effect upon the melting point of nanoparticles, three different substrates were tested by using a thermodynamic model: tungsten, amorphous carbon ...

Enhanced printed temperature sensors on flexible substrate

Microelectronics Journal, 2014
In this paper we present the development of enhanced printed temperature sensors on large area flexible substrates. The process flow is a fully screen printed technology that uses exclusively solution-processed materials. These Screen printed temperature sensors are based on resistive pastes integrated in a Wheatstone bridge circuit.

Temperature dependence of the birefringence of optical-disk substrates

Applied Optics, 1996
Injection-molded polycarbonate substrates are used predominantly in read-only, write-once, phase-change and magneto-optic disks for data storage. The in-plane and vertical birefringences of these substrates adversely affect the performance of optical data-storage systems. The disks are typically expected to operate in the ambient temperature range of 5-

Laser interferometric thermometry for substrate temperature measurement

Applied Optics, 1991
This paper investigates a simple noncontact optical thermometry technique based on the laser interferometric measurement of the thermal expansion and refractive index change of a thin transparent substrate or temperature sensor. The technique is shown to be extendible from room temperature to at least 900 degrees C with the proper choice of a thermally

Temperature Dependence of the Enzyme-Substrate Recognition Mechanism

Journal of Biochemistry, 2001
We determined the crystal structure of the liganded form of alpha-aminotransferase from a hyperthermophile, Pyrococcus horikoshii. This hyperthermophilic enzyme did not show domain movement upon binding of an acidic substrate, glutamate, except for a small movement of the alpha-helix from Glu16 to Ala25. The omega-carboxyl group of the acidic substrate

Effect of temperature on the optimal substrate for β-oxidation

Journal of Fish Biology, 1996
The enzyme carnitine palmitoyl tranferase (CPT) is able to use a range of fatty acids as substrates, with some variation in catalytic rate among tissue. The substrate giving maximal activity of the enzyme under optimal conditions (C16: 1) is similar in trout, salmon, goldfish, eel and tilapia.

Temperature determination of thin sapphire substrates

Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1974
A technique is presented which allows for a noncontact temperature determination of thin sapphire substrates with ordinary laboratory instrumentation. The technique utilizes the property of expansion with temperature. A calibration curve of sapphire substrate temperature vs heater temperature is deduced.
