Interplay between Subthreshold Oscillations and Depressing Synapses in Single Neurons. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
In this paper we analyze the interplay between the subthreshold oscillations of a single neuron conductance-based model and the short-term plasticity of a dynamic synapse with a depressing mechanism.

Extending integrate-and-fire model neurons to account for the effects of weak electric fields and input filtering mediated by the dendrite

open access: yes, 2016
How extracellular electric fields, as generated endogenously or through transcranial brain stimulation, affect the dynamics of large neuronal populations is of great interest but not well understood.

An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Binge and Emotional Eating in obese subjects seeking weight loss treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Objective: Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is highly prevalent among individuals seeking weight loss treatment. Considering the possible trigger factors for BED, different studies focused on the role of emotional eating. The present study compared threshold,

The Optimal Size of Stochastic Hodgkin-Huxley Neuronal Systems for Maximal Energy Efficiency in Coding of Pulse Signals

open access: yes, 2013
The generation and conduction of action potentials represents a fundamental means of communication in the nervous system, and is a metabolically expensive process.

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

Comment on ‘Criterion placement threatens the construct validity of neural measures of consciousness’

open access: yeseLife
In a recent article Fahrenfort and colleagues demonstrate that auditory and monetary punishment change the criteria that participants use to rate the clarity of perception (Fahrenfort et al., 2025).

Subthreshold K+ Meson Production in Proton-Nucleus Reactions

open access: yes, 1997
The inclusive K+ mesons production in proton-nucleus collisions in the near threshold and subthreshold energy regimes is analyzed with respect to the one-step (pN->K+YN, Y=Lambda,Sigma) and the two-step (pN->NNpi, NN2pi; piN->K+Y) incoherent production ...

Neuromorphic Electronics for Intelligence Everywhere: Emerging Devices, Flexible Platforms, and Scalable System Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...
