Quantum mode filtering of non-Gaussian states for teleportation-based quantum information processing

open access: yes, 2012
We propose and demonstrate an effective mode-filtering technique of non-Gaussian states generated by photon-subtraction. More robust non-Gaussian states have been obtained by removing noisy low frequencies from the original mode spectrum.

A Novel mRNA Level Subtraction Method for Quick Identification of Target-Orientated Uniquely Expressed Genes Between Peanut Immature Pod and Leaf

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online, 2009
Subtraction technique has been broadly applied for target gene discovery. However, most current protocols apply relative differential subtraction and result in great amount clone mixtures of unique and differentially expressed genes.

Stand-Alone Rod Augmentation for Instrumentation Failure after Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy: A Case Report with a 2-Year Follow-up

open access: yesJournal of Orthopedic and Spine Trauma, 2021
Background: Revision surgery of spine can be a complex procedure and has known complications. It involves hardware revision, removal of scar/callus tissue, realignment of sagittal balance, and anterior augmentation.

Improving Foreground Subtraction in Statistical Observations of 21 cm Emission from the Epoch of Reionization [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.648:767-773,2006, 2005
Statistical observations of the Epoch of Reionization using the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen have the potential to revolutionize our understanding of structure formation and the first luminous objects. However, these observations are complicated by a host of strong foreground sources.

Eigenvector Sky Subtraction

open access: yes, 2000
We develop a new method for estimating and removing the spectrum of the sky from deep spectroscopic observations; our method does not rely on simultaneous measurement of the sky spectrum with the object spectrum.

Sagittal Deformity Correction in a Patient Suffering From Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis Who Previously Underwent a Total Hip and Bilateral Knee Replacement

open access: yesGeriatric Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation, 2021
Introduction: Physiological aging frequently leads to degenerative changes and spinal deformity. In patients with hypolordotic fusions or ankylosing illnesses such as diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis or ankylosing spondylitis, compensation ...

The solution supramolecular structure of α2 → 8 polysialic acid suggests a structural cause for its low immunogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...

All Optical Signal-Processing Techniques Utilizing Four Wave Mixing

open access: yesPhotonics, 2015
Four Wave Mixing (FWM) based optical signal-processing techniques are reviewed. The use of FWM in arithmetical operation like subtraction, wavelength conversion and pattern recognition are three key parts discussed in this paper after a brief ...

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.

Spectral Solution with a Subtraction Method to Improve Accuracy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work addresses the solution to a Dirichlet boundary value problem for the Poisson equation in 1-D, d2u/dx2 = f using a numerical Fourier collocation approach.
