Osteology of the pectoral girdle and forelimb of Siriusgnathus niemeyerorum, a Late Triassic traversodontid cynodont from Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Traversodontids are non‐mammaliaform cynodonts, herbivorous to omnivorous, that lived during the Triassic. In the Late Triassic, some members of this group increased in body size relative to other cynodont lineages and evolved postcranial adaptations associated with locomotion.

Exceptional preservation informs the paleobiology of tapinocephalid dinocephalians

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The tapinocephalid dinocephalian Moschops is one of the most iconic taxa of the middle Permian, yet its paleobiology remains one of the least well‐known. Here, we address some aspects of paleoneurology and paleobiology of Moschops using CT scanning of four well preserved skulls from the upper Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa. Two of the

NEW EARLY BATHONIAN BIGOTITINAE AND ZIGZAGICERATINAE (AMMONOIDEA, MIDDLE JURASSIC)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2007
Several tens of Lower Bathonian Bigotites from Digne-Castellane region (SE France) and Cabo Mondego area (Portugal) have been reviewed. Three species have been distinguished in the lowermost subzone of the Zigzag Zone (Parvum Subzone) just above the ...

Surface hydration‐induced damage in tight oil‐bearing sandy conglomerate reservoirs

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A series of techniques such as X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive spectroscopy, conductivity tests, and infrared thermal imaging were used. The key findings are the identification of a two‐stage surface hydration process and the elucidation of the effects of various minerals and elements on the hydration process ...

Three‐dimensional subzone‐based reconstruction algorithm for MR elastography [PDF]

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, 2001
AbstractAccurate characterization of harmonic tissue motion for realistic tissue geometries and property distributions requires knowledge of the full three‐dimensional displacement field because of the asymmetric nature of both the boundaries of the tissue domain and the location of internal mechanical heterogeneities.

Late Holocene environmental history of Dojran, Macedonia: Investigating the interplay of imperial dynamics and climatic change

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a high‐resolution, multi‐proxy reconstruction of environmental and land‐use change from Lake Dojran over historical times (last 2500 years), combining pollen, biomarkers, radiocarbon dating, Ottoman taxation records and other historical data.

The calcareous nannofossils and magnetostratigraphic results from the Upper Tithonian–Berriasian of Feodosiya region (Eastern Crimea)

open access: yesGeologica Carpathica, 2019
This article is concerned with nannofossil study of Tithonian–Berriasian sediments of Eastern Crimea. The NJT 16, NJT 17a, NJT 17b, NKT, and NK 1 nannofossil zones were determined. The occurrence of Nannoconus kamptneri minor, one of the potential marker-

Recovery of southern mountain caribou habitat following wildfire in Ulkatcho territory, British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Caribou forage lichens were present in post‐burn lodgepole pine stands multiple decades before stem‐density was likely open enough to attract wintering caribou. We posit that the prolonged self‐thinning of lodgepole pine after fire may be a greater limiting factor than lichen abundance for habitat recovery in lodgepole pine forests.

Brazil seed transfer zones: Supporting seed sourcing for climate‐resilient ecosystem restoration

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Brazil has tens of millions of hectares of degraded land that must be restored to meet national and global biodiversity and climate goals. Sowing genetically diverse native seeds is key to restoring degraded lands to climate‐resilient landscapes, but we still lack guidance on how to effectively match seed sources to restoration sites across broad ...
