Stress History Establishes a Transient Tolerant State That Shapes Antibiotic Survival Upon Resuscitation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
High‐throughput single‐cell analysis of resuscitating bacteria reveals a starvation‐history‐dependent transiently tolerant subpopulation that survives β$\beta$‐lactam exposure by temporarily reducing growth. Distinct from classical persisters, these actively growing yet dynamically modulated cells dominate survival across clinically relevant antibiotic

A Novel Method for Predicting the Behavior of a Sucker Rod Pumping Unit Based on the Polished Rod Velocity

open access: yesMathematics
Fault dynamometer cards are the basis of the diagnosis technique for sucker rod pumping systems. Predicting fault cards with a pumping condition model is an economical and effective method.

Over Stroke of Carbon Fiber Continuous Sucker Rod

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
Carbon fiber continuous sucker rods are used in oil production systems. However, the over stroke was observed in the movement of the plunger with unknown influence, leading to lack of theoretical basis in the design and application of carbon fiber ...

Anatomical Investigation Reveals a Second Olfactory System in Locusts

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 8, August 2026.
We traced chemosensory pathways from locust palps through the central nervous system. Olfactory input from basiconic sensilla targets the glomerular lobe and accessory calyx, whereas gustatory input is restricted to gnathal circuits. Thus, the palp and antennal olfactory pathways form parallel but separate systems.

The results of introducing technology to remove gas from the annulus of a well by creating vacuum at the Zarechnoye field

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Нефть и газ, 2020
The technology for pumping out and partial utilization of associated gas in oil fields by the vacuum method, using a unit for pumping gas from the annulus of the well and pumping it into the product collection system (KOGS), have been implemented at ...

Hierarchically Biporous Wick Vapor Chamber With Micro/Nano Condenser for Exceeding 600 W/cm2 Heat Dissipation

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
An integrated vapor chamber couples a hierarchically biporous copper wick with a micro/nano‐textured superhydrophobic condenser to form a self‐sustained liquid–vapor loop. The device dissipates extreme heat fluxes above 600 W/cm2, even when the condenser is above the heater, by overcoming the permeability‐capillarity trade‐off in conventional vapor ...

Running-in Position Determination of Centralizer for Anti-eccentric Wearing of Directional Well

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2016
In the design of centralizer,it is usually assumed that the sucker rod coupling and the centralizer to be straight bars with equivalent cross-sectional areas. This is a bias that should be corrected.Based on the feature that sucker rod string with ...

Successful conservative management of suspected primary septic peritonitis in a cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, August 2026.
Abstract A 4‐year‐old, male, neutered, domestic shorthair cat was presented for investigations into lethargy and abdominal effusion. Peritoneal fluid analysis revealed septic neutrophilic inflammation. Extensive investigations or exploratory laparotomy were not possible due to financial constraints.
