Some observations on the metabolism and excretion of the bisazo dyes sudan III and sudan IV
Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1967Abstract The metabolism and excretion of the fat-soluble bisazo dyes Sudan III and Sudan IV have been studied in the rat. Limited absorption of Sudan III from the gastro-intestinal tract after oral dosage, slow back diffusion of both dyes across the intestinal wall after intraperitoneal injection and absence of either dye in urine or bile after ...

Synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles to detect Sudan dye adulteration in chilli powders
Food Chemistry, 2019Magnetic nanoparticles were synthesised to extract Sudan dyes from chilli powders. The adsorbents used were magnetic ferroferric oxide nanoparticles coated with polystyrene. The extraction procedures for Sudan dyes comprised liquid-solid extraction and magnetic solid phase extraction.

A new substrate for surface enhanced Raman scattering of dye Sudan molecules
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2007A new SERS substrate was prepared using electro-polishing aluminum foils. Based on these high active SERS systems, surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) of Azo Dye Sudan were performed and carefully studied based on this highly active SERS substrate.

Quantitative analysis of Sudan dye adulteration in paprika powder using FTIR spectroscopy
Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A, 2017As adulteration of foodstuffs with Sudan dye, especially paprika- and chilli-containing products, has been reported with some frequency, this issue has become one focal point for addressing food safety. FTIR spectroscopy has been used extensively as an analytical method for quality control and safety determination for food products.

Separation of Sudan dyes from chilli powder by magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer
Journal of Chromatography A, 2012A simple method based on magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) for the separation of Sudan dyes from chilli powder samples has been developed. The MMIPs were synthesized as follows: the Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles were encapsulated with a SiO(2) shell and functionalized with -CH=CH(2), then the polymers were further fabricated by surface ...

Induction of propranolol metabolism by the azo dye sudan III in rats
Biochemical Pharmacology, 1992Effects of the azo dye sudan III, an inducer of cytochrome P450 isozymes belonging to the CYP1A subfamily, on propranolol (PL) in vitro and in vivo metabolism were investigated in rats. The kinetic parameters of the activity for each metabolic pathway were determined in liver microsomes from control and sudan III-treated rats.

Gas phase fragmentation of sudan and d6-labelled sudan azo dyes.
2007The gas phase behavior of the sudan dyes and their labeled homologues is important in the set-up of analytical methods. Sudan Azo dyes are widely used as synthetic dyes in many commodities. Many papers deals with their potential danger for human health, since some of them are carcinogenic .

Sudan IV dye based poly(alkyloxymethacrylate) films for optical data storage
Optics Communications, 2006Abstract The polymer poly{1-[2′-methyl-4′-(2″-methylphenylazo) phenylazo]-2-( m -methacryloyloxyoctyloxy}naphthalene, where m = 6, 8, 10, is synthesized by free radical addition polymerization method for holographic optical data storage. Characterization of the polymers is done by formation of the holographic grating.

International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part A. Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1990
Abstract An investigation was carried out on the effect of γ-radiation on the absorption spectra of Sudan red and Sudan blue dyes in organic solutions. A continuous decrease in the absorbance values at the absorption bands was observed with an increase of absorbed dose.

Determination of banned sudan dyes in chili powder by capillary electrophoresis
Food Chemistry, 2007Abstract A simple and fast method, based on the use of micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography in combination with UV detection, was developed for the determination of Sudan dyes (I, II, III and IV). The separation of a mixture of the four standards was achieved using a background electrolyte consisting of 5 mM borate (pH 9.3), 20 mM sodium ...
