These statements are derived from Na‘ūm Shuqayr's Ta'rīkh al-Sūdān, which has two principal relevant passages.

Bulletin of Entomological Research, 1958Diparopsis watersi (Roths.) is a serious pest of the cotton crop in the Gash Delta of the eastern Sudan. The climate and method of cotton cultivation are described briefly and a general account of the incidence of D. watersi during the season is given.

Echinococcus granulosus infection in dogs in Tambool, Sudan
Journal of Helminthology, 1986ABSTRACTIn the Tambool area (Central eastern Sudan) a survey was made of the infection rate of Echinococcus granulosus in dogs. From the total of 49 dogs shot by the police authority, 25 (51%) had E. granulosus in their intestines. The range of worm recovery was 7 to 28,400.

Rôle of a metabolite in allergenicity of Sudan I
Contact Dermatitis, 1986A metabolite of Sudan I (l‐phenylazo‐2—naphthol) was isolated alter in vitro incubation with the supernatant of guinea pig liver homogenate (S·9). The metabolite was found to be 4′‐hydroxy‐l‐phenylazo‐2—naplithol by gas chromatography‐mass spectrormetry (GC‐MS), and proton and carbon‐13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyses.
