In Situ Lipoprotein‐seeking Dye for in Vivo Real‐Time Imaging of Lipid Dysregulation Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops lipoprotein‐seeking NIR‐II dyes that specifically bind circulating lipoproteins. These dyes form ultra‐stable complexes with endogenous lipoprotein, enabling real‐time, high‐contrast imaging of fatty liver and atherosclerotic plaques. Tunable binding kinetics allow customized imaging windows.

Single‐Cell Atlas of Subchondral Bone Marrow Lesions Reveals Proteostasis Dysfunction as a Druggable Mechanism for Early Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that abnormal mechanical stress downregulates the expression of HSP70 and impairs proteasome function in osteoarthritic bone cells, leading to misfolded collagen I accumulation and ER stress. When intracellular proteostasis capacity is exceeded, USP19 mediates the secretion of misfolded proteins into the extracellular space ...

Detection of Azo Dyes in Curry Powder Using a 1064-nm Dispersive Point-Scan Raman System

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Curry powder is extensively used in Southeast Asian dishes. It has been subject to adulteration by azo dyes. This study used a newly developed 1064 nm dispersive point-scan Raman system for detection of metanil yellow and Sudan-I contamination in curry ...

Livestock Tango: U.S. and Latin America Dance Together, but Who Will Lead?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the competitiveness between Latin American and U.S. livestock and meat sectors. We employ a computable general equilibrium modeling framework to evaluate two scenarios: coordinated improvements in Latin American productivity, transport efficiency, and market access (Scenario I), and the minimum productivity gains required ...

Determination of banned dyes in spices by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2007
A simple and rapid multiresidue method for the determination of nine banned synthetic dyes in various spices has been developed. Reversed phase HPLC coupled with mass spectrometry (tandem in time-ion trap mass analyser) was employed for the examination ...

Temperature and Farm Labor in Nigeria

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We estimate the impact of temperature shocks on the composition of farm labor in rural Nigeria using a nationally representative household panel survey. Leveraging plausibly exogenous year‐to‐year variation in growing season temperatures, we find that warmer temperatures significantly alter farm labor composition, prompting a substantial shift

Genome-Wide Identification and Characterization of MYB Transcription Factors in Sudan Grass under Drought Stress

open access: yesPlants
Sudan grass (Sorghum sudanense S.) is a warm-season annual grass with high yield, rich nutritional value, good regeneration, and tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. However, prolonged drought affects the yield and quality of Sudan grass.
