Sex‐specific differences in mortality and neurocardiac interactions in the Kv1.1 knockout mouse model of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP)

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The Kcna1 knockout mouse model of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) exhibits sex‐specific differences in SUDEP risk. Female mice exhibit a lower SUDEP risk than males, despite similar seizure characteristics and interictal cardiac function across sexes.

Repolarization adaptation to rapid change in heart rate in human models – a review

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This review focuses on non‐invasive assessment of repolarization duration and dispersion (heterogeneity) adaptation to change in heart rate (HR). HR was increased incrementally by left atrial pacing during an electrophysiology (EP) study and by a bolus injection of atropine and in a step up/down fashion by repeated right atrial ...

Time‐course manganese chloride biodistribution and manganese‐induced MRI contrast in mouse organs

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 94, Issue 3, Page 1227-1236, September 2025.
Abstract Purpose To optimize manganese‐enhanced MRI (MEMRI) in mice by profiling the time‐course biodistribution and associated T1 contrast enhancement of MnCl2 injected subcutaneously to avoid abrupt spikes in blood manganese levels. Methods Manganese (Mn) biodistribution and Mn‐induced T1 contrast in healthy female adult CD‐1 mice were investigated ...

Post‐stroke depression prevalence and associated factors at Hawassa University Hospital, Ethiopia: A prospective cross‐sectional study

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Background Post‐stroke depression (PSD) is the most common neuropsychiatric complication following stroke. Although its prevalence varies across studies and meta‐analyses, it is estimated to affect over 25% of stroke survivors. Despite its significant negative impact on recovery and quality of life, PSD is frequently underdiagnosed ...

Arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse—a systematic review of ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death outcomes before and after mitral valve surgery

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
This systematic review aims to determine whether MVS reduces the incidence of VA and SCD in patients with MVP. Available studies show a likely reduction when surgery is performed in line with current guideline‐directed indications; however, a residual risk of VA and SCD remains.
