Theoretical and experimental investigations of upper atmosphere dynamics [PDF]
A brief overview of the significant contributions made to the understanding of the dynamics of the Earth's upper atmosphere is presented, including the addition of winds and diffusion to the semi-empirical Global Reference Atmospheric Model developed for

Total ozone and surface temperature correlations during 1972 - 1981 [PDF]
Ten years of Dobson spectrophotometer total ozone measurements and surface temperature observations were used to construct monthly mean values of the two parameters.

Stratosphere - troposphere interaction during stratospheric sudden warming events
The stratosphere and the troposphere exhibit a strong coupling during the winter months. However, the coupling mechanisms between the respective vertical layers are not fully understood. An idealized spectral core dynamical model is utilized in the present study in order to clarify the coupling timing, location and mechanisms.

Comparison of periodic and other characteristics of geomagnetic and meterological rocket data [PDF]
The temporal variations in stratospheric winds and temperatures with the geomagnetic field elements were compared. From a periodic analysis of the geomagnetic field elements the amplitude and phase of the quasibiennial, annual, and semiannual waves are ...

Analysis of data from spacecraft (stratospheric warmings) [PDF]
Investigations involved a search through existing literature and data to obtain case histories for the six or more stratospheric warmings that occurred in April - May 1969, June - July 1969, August 1969, December 1969 - January 1970, December 1970 ...

Simulations of stratospheric sudden warmings in the Berlin troposphere-stratosphere-mesosphere GCM
Stratospheric sudden warming events in the Northern Hemisphere of the Berlin TSM GCM are investigated. In about 50% of the simulated years (13 out of 28), major midwinter warmings occur. This agrees well with observations but, whereas real events tend to
