Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Proteome analysis of xylose metabolism in Rhodotorula toruloides during lipid production

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2019
Background Rhodotorula toruloides is a promising platform organism for production of lipids from lignocellulosic substrates. Little is known about the metabolic aspects of lipid production from the lignocellolosic sugar xylose by oleaginous yeasts in ...

Branched chain aldehydes: production and breakdown pathways and relevance for flavour in foods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Branched aldehydes, such as 2-methyl propanal and 2- and 3-methyl butanal, are important flavour compounds in many food products, both fermented and non-fermented (heat-treated) products. The production and degradation of these aldehydes from amino acids

Engineering a cyanobacterium as the catalyst for the photosynthetic conversion of CO2 to 1,2-propanediol

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2013
Background The modern society primarily relies on petroleum and natural gas for the production of fuels and chemicals. One of the major commodity chemicals 1,2-propanediol (1,2-PDO), which has an annual production of more than 0.5 million tons in the ...

LC-MS proteomics analysis of the iInsulin/IGF-1-deficient Caenorhabditis elegans daf-2(e1370) mutant reveals extensive restructuring of intermediary metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The insulin/IGF-1 receptor is a major known determinant of dauer formation, stress resistance, longevity, and metabolism in Caenorhabditis elegans. In the past, whole-genome transcript profiling was used extensively to study differential gene expression ...

Crystallization and preliminary X-ray analysis of NADP(H)-dependent alcohol dehydrogenases from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rana perezi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Different crystal forms diffracting to high resolution have been obtained for two NADP(H)-dependent alcohol dehydrogenases, members of the medium-chain dehydrogenase/reductase superfamily: ScADHVI from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and ADH8 from Rana perezi ...

The effect of Maillard reaction products and yeast strain on the synthesis of key higher alcohols and esters in beer fermentations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The effect of Maillard reaction products (MRPs), formed during the production of dark malts, on the synthesis of higher alcohols and esters in beer fermentations was investigated by headspace solid-phase microextraction GC-MS.
