Introgression in Sugar Maples II.
American Midland Naturalist, 1947In a study of leaf variation in Acer saccharophorum K. Koch and Acer nigrum Michx. f. from colonies in Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois and Missouri, Anderson and Hubricht (4) infer that even when these two maples grow intermingled and flower at the same time, there are no intermediate individuals. Consequently there would be no hybridization.
