Nutritional Requirement by Irrigated Brazilian Sugarcane Varieties

Sugar Tech, 2021
Aboveground biomass and nutrient accumulation differ among varieties of sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) throughout the crop development. This study aimed to identify irrigated sugarcane varieties with similar pattern of aboveground biomass production and nutrient extraction using cluster analysis and to determine the nutritional requirement during ...

Tolerance of Sugarcane Varieties to Herbicides

Weed Science, 1968
Five herbicides were applied postemergence to three Louisiana sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) varieties. Nine or 12 lb/A of 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,1-dimethylurea (diuron) severely injured varieties C.P. 44-101 and C.P. 52-68, but variety N.Co. 310 was not affected. Conversely, N.Co.

Differential Yield Responses of Commercial Sugarcane Varieties to Sugarcane Borer Damage

Journal of Economic Entomology, 1969
Comparison to yields from insecticide-treated and untreated sugarcane variety plots in 14 experiments conducted from 1959 to 1965 show a wide range in varietal response to damage by the sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalis (F.). Yield losses from sugarcane borer damage were much greater for varieties C.P. 48-103 and C.P.

Transcriptome of High-Sucrose Sugarcane Variety GT35

Sugar Tech, 2016
Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is the most important sugar crop and a major source of bio-ethanol. Sucrose accumulation is important in sugarcane, but it has not been investigated by transcriptome analysis . In this study, the transcriptome of a high-sucrose sugarcane variety, GT35, was sequenced using high-throughput Solexa technology.

Assessing resistance of sugarcane varieties to sugarcane borer Diatraea saccharalis Fab. (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)

Bulletin of Entomological Research, 2017
AbstractIn this study, we investigated resistance traits to the sugarcane borer Diatraea saccharalis Fab. (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) in the leaves and stalks of six sugarcane cultivars in a series of greenhouse and laboratory assays. Investigation of plant factors and infestation rates to better discriminate stalk damage by the sugarcane borer indicated ...

Photosynthesis in Sugarcane Varieties Infected with Strains of Sugarcane Mosaic Virus

Physiologia Plantarum, 1971
AbstractSymptoms of sugarcane mosaic virus disease caused by strains B and D were accompanied by a reduction in the rate of photosynthesis per unit area; the severe symptoms of strain A and the mild symptoms of strain I produced rates no different from those of healthy plants of variety C.P. 31‐588.
