Comparison of habitat suitability models using different habitat suitability evaluation methods
Ecological Engineering, 2014Abstract When simulating the habitat suitability for a species or a community, the selection of the habitat evaluation index is still a matter of debate. This study examined Chinese sturgeon spawning grounds in the Yangtze River as an example. The water level and velocity were simulated by a two-dimensional hydraulic model.

Evaluation of Suitable Frequency
2009The radio wave propagation through coal and rock strata suffers from dispersion, absorption, and scattering of electromagnetic waves due to its natural properties and space limitations (Bandyopadhyay et al., 2007; Wait, 1971; Wait and Hill, 1972). The heterogeneous and complex structure of coal and rock strata further complicates the process of radio ...

Evaluating Training Data Suitability for Decision Tree Induction
Journal of Medical Systems, 2001Decision tree induction, as well as other inductive learning methods, requires training data of high quality to be able to generate accurate and reliable classification models. Example cases should form a representative sample from the application area, and the attributes used to describe example cases should be relevant and adequate for the ...

Abstract Tea ( Camellia sinensis ) is one of the most valuable cash crops in southern China; however, the planting distribution of tea crops is not optimal and the production and cultivation regions of tea crops are restricted by law and custom. In order to evaluate the suitability of tea crops in Zhejiang Province, the annual mean temperature, the ...

Kaolin from Mayouom (Western Cameroon): Industrial suitability evaluation
Applied Clay Science, 2009On the basis of particle size distributions, bulk chemical and mineralogical compositions and firing properties, this paper outlines an assessment of the industrial suitability of Mayouom kaolin deposit for sustainable development. The characteristics of the studied samples compared to some standards indicate that these kaolins are high quality ...

Evaluation of Video-Otoscopes Suitable for Tele-Otology
Telemedicine Journal and e-Health, 2003The objectives of this study were to assess the quality of digitized video-otoscopes as well as its ease of use and safety. Four video-otoscopes available in Australia were used to image 96 patients. At least 22 patients (age range 5-70 years) were imaged with each video-otoscope, and the images were stored in a JPEG format.

Urban Land Suitability Evaluation Based on Fuzzy Synthesis Evaluation
Advanced Materials Research, 2012The primary influencing factors of urban land suitability were analyzed, and evaluation index systems were proposed for urban land suitability. Based on AHP, the weight of every evaluation index was determined, and the evaluation model for urban land suitability was also established by fuzzy synthesis evaluation.

Suitability of synthetic imagery for ATR evaluation
Proceedings 30th Applied Imagery Pattern Recognition Workshop (AIPR 2001). Analysis and Understanding of Time Varying Imagery, 2002There is a commonly held belief among many who participate in ATR development and evaluation that a lack of data (imagery from tactical sensors) is a significant obstacle in the production and thorough evaluation of high performance ATR systems. Recognizing that it may be too costly or even impossible to collect a sufficient quantity of real data to ...
