In Situ Constructed Magnetic Core‐Shell Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Framework‐on‐Metal–Organic Framework Structure: an Efficient Catalyst for Peroxymonosulfate Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

Carbon-catalyzed oxidation of SO2 by NO2 and air [PDF]

open access: yes
A series of experiments was performed using carbon particles (commercial furnace black) as a surrogate for soot particles. Carbon particles were suspended in water, and gas mixtures were bubbled into the suspensions to observe the effect of carbon ...

Deciphering the Origin of Higher Shell Coordination on Single Iron Catalysts for Resilient Modulating Persulfate Oxidation Into Singlet Oxygen Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reveals that higher shell S coordination can effectively modulate the spin state of FeN4 site via long‐range electronic interactions, giving rise to the oriented generation of singlet oxygen from peroxymonosulfate activation. Abstract Precise manipulation of coordination structure of single‐atom sites and establishment of schematic ...

Infiltration and short-term movement of nitrogen in a silt-loam soil typical of rice cultivation in Arkansas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Rice production in Arkansas is one of the top three crop commodities in terms of cash receipts. Researchers and farmers report that nitrogen (N) needs to be managed according to a variety of factors with two important ones being soil and fertilizer type.

The Route to Artery Mimetics: Hybrid Bioinks for Embedded Bioprinting of Multimaterial Cylindrical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The fabrication of a cellularized, multilayered 3D printed cylindrical model comprising hybrid bioinks inspired by the natural extracellular environment as an approach to artery mimetics, is presented. Using embedded bioprinting, interlayer crosslinking of self‐supporting concentric cylinders is achieved.

Southern Annular Mode response to volcanic eruptions: implications for ice core proxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Large tropical volcanic eruptions have been observed to have a significant influence on the large-scale circulation patterns of the Northern Hemisphere, through mechanisms related to the radiative effects of the sulfate aerosols resulting from the ...

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

Carbonate and sulfate minerals in the Chassigny meteorite [PDF]

open access: yes
SO2 and CO2 from pyrolysis and combustion of bulk Chassigny and infrared traces of sulfate and carbonate minerals have been previously reported. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive x ray spectrometry (EDS), portions of these ...
