Neurologic Injury in Isolated Sulfite Oxidase Deficiency
Canadian Journal of Neurological Sciences / Journal Canadien des Sciences Neurologiques, 2014Background:We review clinical, neuroimaging, and genetic information on six individuals with isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency (ISOD).Methods:All patients were examined, and clinical records, biochemistry, neuroimaging, and sulfite oxidase gene (SUOX) sequencing were reviewed. Results:Data was available on six individuals from four nuclear families ...

The reaction of chicken liver sulfite oxidase with dimethylsulfite
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1995We have undertaken a steady-state and rapid kinetic study of the reaction of enzyme with sulfite and dimethylsulfite. Methylation of sulfite results in a significant increase in Km and Kd for the substrate in the course of steady-state and rapid reaction kinetics, respectively, but kcat and the limiting rate constant for enzyme reduction (kred) are ...

The Kinetic Behavior of Chicken Liver Sulfite Oxidase
Biochemistry, 1999A comprehensive kinetic study of sulfite oxidase has been undertaken over the pH range 6.0-10.0, including conventional steady-state work as well as rapid kinetic studies of both the reaction of oxidized enzyme with sulfite and reduced enzyme with cytochrome c (III).

In this study, we developed a hybrid biosensor based on sulfite oxidase and glucose oxidase for determination of sulfite and glucose. The principle of the measurements was based on the determination of the decrease in the differentiation of oxygen level which had been caused by the catalytic reactions of the enzymes in the bioactive layer of the ...

Isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency
2005Isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency is a very rare autosomal recessive disorder associated with metabolism of sulfur containing amino acids. A 4-month-old girl with intractable seizures and feeding difficulty diagnosed as isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency is presented.

Isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency
2018Isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency (ISOD) is a life-threatening, autosomal recessive disease characterized by severe neurological impairment. As no long-term effective treatment is available, distinction from other treatable diseases, such as molybdenum cofactor deficiency (MoCD) type A, should be made.
