Ferredoxin-dependent Sulfite Reductase from Spinach Leaves
A ferredoxin-dependent nitrite reductase from Spinacea oleracea was purified approximately 180-fold, with a specific activity of 285 units/mg protein. This purified enzyme also had methyl viologen-dependent nitrite reductase activity, with a specific activity of 164 units/mg protein.

Microbial sulfur transformations in sediments from Subglacial Lake Whillans
Diverse microbial assemblages inhabit subglacial aquatic environments. While few of these environments have been sampled, data reveal that subglacial organisms gain energy for growth from reduced minerals containing nitrogen, iron, and sulfur.
