Sulfonated sporopollenin as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for dehydration of D-xylose and xylan into furfural [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The natural acidity of sporopollenin, the biopolymer coating the outer walls of pollen grains, was enhanced by the sulfonation of its surface. Modified sporopollenin displaying sulfonic acid groups has been prepared, characterized by elemental analysis ...

A Sulfur Fixation Strategy via Magnesium Oxide for Constructing High‐Rate Hard Carbon Anodes in Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A sulfur fixation strategy via magnesium oxide is proposed to address sulfur dissolution in hard carbon anodes for sodium‐ion batteries. This method focuses on modifying the morphological structure of the hard carbon material, leading to significantly improved electrochemical performance.

Characterization of a Sulfonated Polycarbonate Resistive Humidity Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2013
In this work; resistive moisture sensors were obtained by dip coating sulfonated polycarbonate (SPC) onto silver interdigitated electrodes. Commercial polycarbonate was sulfonated with acetyl sulphate at two different sulfonation degrees corresponding to

Impact of sulfonated hydrothermal carbon texture and surface chemistry on its catalytic performance in esterification reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A carbon material consisting of interconnected spheres of around 350 nm diameter has been prepared by hydrothermal synthesis at 453 K. Subsequently, the hydrothermal carbon (HTC) has been treated in N2 at different temperatures, 573, 673, 773, 973 K ...

Sulfonation Mechanism of Polysulfone in Concentrated Sulfuric Acid for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel cell Applications

open access: yesACS Omega, 2020
The sulfonated polysulfone is a competitive proton-conducting material for proton exchange membrane fuel cells because of its relatively low cost and adequate performance compared with the perfluorinated sulfonic acid ionomers.

Dual‐Functional Sulfonated Nanocellulose for Proton Exchange Membranes With High Proton Conductivity at Low Humidity

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A scalable dual‐functional strategy yields simultaneously sulfonated and nanosized cellulose for proton exchange membranes with continuous hydrogen‐bond networks. These sustainable membranes exhibit low‐humidity proton conductivity twofold higher than Nafion 212, providing a robust solution for next‐generation fuel cells.

Sulfonated polyaniline: influence of sulfonation routes on its thermal and structural characteristics

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2011
In order to study the influence of different sulfonation routes on its thermal and structural properties sulfonated polyaniline (SPAni) was prepared. FT-IR revealed that the formation of PAni salt or ring sulfonation depends on the route.

Dual‐Mode Electrophoretic Displays Enabled by Quantum Dot‐Decorated PR48:2 Pigment Particles and TiO2 for All‐Weather Visibility, Excellent Bistability, and Enhanced Readability

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel quantum dot electrophoretic display (QDEPD), which combines electro‐controlled reflection and optically‐triggered emission to achieve efficient multi‐modal switching within a single pixel. By incorporating multi‐component nanostructures, the system enhances functional integration and multi‐modal response capabilities.
