Biomonitoring and spatial variability of sulphur dioxide in urban air

open access: yesRevista Ambiente & Água, 2011
Lichens are recognized as biological indicators of environmental pollution and also biomonitors of air quality due to their response capacity when exposed to polluted environments especially toxic gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO2) carbon dioxide (CO2 ...

Biotechnological strategies to reduce the doses of sulfur dioxide in white winemaking and avoid problems of browning

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2023
This communication studies some possible strategies to reduce or even to replace sulfur dioxide in winemaking. Specifically, the aim of this work was to study the protective effect against oxidation of a commercial inactivated dry yeast (IDY) with very ...

Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

Effect of volcanic sulfur dioxide on solar UV irradiance during the 2023 Fagradalsfjall eruption in Reykjavík, Iceland

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift
Sulfur dioxide is an important atmospheric gas that can attenuate solar ultraviolet radiation. It can be found in greater quantities in highly polluted areas and especially in volcanic plumes.

Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Cryo‐EM of Rationally Designed Photosystem I Nanoassembly on Graphene Validates Orientation‐Driven Enhancement of Photocatalytic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The first cryo‐EM visualization and quantification of oriented Photosystem I (PSI) on single‐layer graphene is reported. Domain‐specific covalent anchoring of PSI, with the reducing side of the biophotocatalyst toward graphene, promotes three‐fold higher anodic photocurrent generation compared to a randomly physisorbed counterpart. This approach allows

INFLUENCE OF AUTOCHTHONOUS SACCHAROMYCES SPP. STRAINS ON THE SULFUR DIOXIDE CONCENTRATION IN WINE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2008
The aim of this work was to study the infl uence of 8 autochthonous yeasts strains on the sulfur dioxide formation. For this purpose grape must from the Traminer, Muller Turgau and Chardonnay grapes was used.
