2021Acid mine drainage (AMD) is a major issue for the mining industry and a global environmental concern. It is facilitated heavily by microbially catalyzed sulfur oxidation/ disproportionation reactions involving reduced sulfide components in mine wastes that result in the release of harmful acidity and metals.
