Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Investigation on the Sulfuric Acid Corrosion Mechanism for Concrete in Soaking Environment

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
This paper chooses the apparent diffusion coefficient for OH− (hydroxyl ion) for concrete as an index to evaluate the corrosion degree of concrete subjected to sulfuric acid.

The transformations of cellulose after concentrated sulfuric acid treatment and its impact on the enzymatic saccharification

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels and Bioproducts, 2023
Background The dense structure of cellulose lowers its reactivity and hinders its applications. Concentrated sulfuric acid is an ideal solvent to dissolve cellulose and thus has been used widely to treat cellulose. However, the changes of cellulose after

Enhanced growth rate of atmospheric particles from sulfuric acid [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2020
In the present-day atmosphere, sulfuric acid is the most important vapour for aerosol particle formation and initial growth. However, the growth rates of nanoparticles (<10 nm) from sulfuric acid remain poorly measured. Therefore, the effect of

Accurate approach in simulating the electronic absorption cross section of small to medium molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is the dominant form of atmospheric sulfur in the stratosphere and plays an important role in terms of aerosol formation. The Absorption spectrum of sulfuric acid is simulated.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Scandium extraction from silicates by hydrometallurgical process at normal pressure and temperature

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Silicate is an important rock-forming mineral. In this work, a method called “sulfuric acid curing” was proposed, aiming to extract rare earth element scandium from silicates.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Non-spectral interferences due to the presence of sulfuric acid in inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Results of a systematic study concerning non-spectral interferences from sulfuric acid containing matrices on a large number of elements in inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) are presented in this work.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
