Microwave Synthesis of Novel Esters Using Sulfuric Acid and Imidazole as Catalysts

open access: yes, 2019
As recent literature indicates, microwaves are quickly becoming an accepted tool for investigators in the organic laboratory. Microwave synthesis enables reactions to proceed more rapidly with greater yields than many conventional techniques.

Drop‐Location‐Insensitive Droplet‐Based Electricity Generator Using Polydimethylsiloxane Slippery Covalently Attached Liquid Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Drop‐location sensitivity remains a key barrier to practical droplet‐based electricity generators (DEGs). Here, a polydimethylsiloxane slippery covalently attached liquid (PDMS‐SCAL)‐coated interface promotes droplet sliding instead of splitting or bouncing, allowing stable electricity generation from randomly falling raindrops. The resulting PDMS‐SCAL‐

In situ 13c NMR study of conjunct polymerization of i-pentene in 95% sulfuric acid [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
13C NMR study of \ conjunct polymn.\ of 1-pentene in 95% sulfuric acid demonstrated that this is a carbenium ion reaction, where the esters are the precursors of carbenium ions. In the first step of the reaction a complicated mixt.

Toward Material‐Specific Peptides From in Silico Guided Peptide Engineering to Target PET in the Presence of PS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a computational–experimental strategy to engineer material‐binding peptides toward polymer specificity. Molecular dynamics simulations identified residues driving polystyrene binding, enabling targeted substitutions that greatly reduced polystyrene affinity while preserving PET binding.

Detection of adulterations in milk fat by multiple regression analysis of total fatty acids profile

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2005
The total fatty acids profile of a genuine milk fat from an important milk producing area of Argentina was determined together with the total fatty acids profiles of sunflower, soybean and coconut oils and bovine and porcine fats. These results were used

Supramolecular Degraders: An Emerging Paradigm in Targeted Protein Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dynamic supramolecular assembly reshapes targeted protein degradation by coordinating modular degrader construction, delivery, functional integration, and intracellular assembly or activation across proteasomal, endosomal–lysosomal, and autophagy–lysosomal pathways.

SynNotch Receptors for Visualizing Immunoreceptor Force Transmission and Downstream Signaling In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically activated SynNotch reporter platform enables detection of force transmission through receptors as they mediate immune cell interactions. Targeting CD40 on B cells and TCR on T cells records force‐induced reporter activation across 2D coculture, 3D organoid, and implanted in mice, which also reveal force‐amplification of immune receptor ...

The Effect of Ligand Reactivity and Carrier Mechanics on Thiol‐Mediated Cellular Uptake for miRNA Nano‐Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The effect of ligand reactivity and carrier mechanics on thiol‐mediated uptake was investigated at the single‐molecule/particle level. The interaction kinetics of LA and AspA with membrane thiols were quantified; AspA is more efficient due to the higher binding affinity, greater binding stability, and more double‐disulfide binding, as well as greater ...

1‐Azabicyclo[1.1.0]butanes (ABBs) on the Map: Mechanistic Pathways for Catalytic Ring Opening and Functionalizations

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Catalytic strain‐release ring opening and functionalizations of 1‐azabicyclo[1.1.0]butanes (ABBs) represent a promising strategy for accessing diverse azetidine products. These transformations proceed via polar pathways, radical pathways, and hybrid mechanisms that combine both.

Sulfuric acid baking and leaching of spent sulfuric acid catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Vanadium, iron and aluminum were recovered from the spent sulfuric acid catalyst with efficiency of 98%, 95% and 85%, respectively by using low temperature sulphuric acid baking followed by leaching.
