Anticoagulant Sulfuric Acid Esters of Synthetic Polyglucoses

Abstract The anticoagulant activity and toxicity of a series of sulfated synthetic polyglucoses were studied. The samples possessed 10-40 per cent the activity of heparin and were 2.5-10 times as toxic as heparin. The results obtained are similar to those reported for other sulfated polysaccharides.

Ester hydrolysis in concentrated sulfuric acid

AbstractAliphatic and alicyclic esters are found to be hydrolyzed conveniently and without epimerization in concentrated sulfuric acid at room temperature. First‐order kinetics are observed. A Hammett rho value of ‐3.6 applies for the hydrolysis of methyl benzoates. Sterically hindered esters show increased rates of hydrolysis.
