The effect of gender and age on the sulphur tissue content in free living European bisons / Wpływ płci i wieku na zawartość siarki w tkankach żubra wolno żyjącego

open access: yesEnvironmental Protection and Natural Resources, 2013
The presented investigations aimed at determining sulphur status in the European bison free ranging in Białowieża primeval forest. The sulphur concentration in the liver, kidneys, muscle and rib was determined. The material for analyses was obtained from

Changes in the Soil Magnesium and Sulphur Content after Kieserite Application into Haplic Luvisol and the Effect on Yields of Barley Biomass

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2017
In 2016 a pot experiment (5 kg of soil – Mitscherlich pots) with 4 treatments (incl. unfertilized control treatment) was established with spring barley, variety KWS Irina, in the outdoor vegetation hall.

Hydrogen photo-production by mixotrophic cultivation of chlamydomonas reinhardtii: Interaction between organic carbon and nitrogen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Hydrogen photo-production by a wild type and two engineered strains of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii was investigated. Growth rate values and hydrogen yields attained as the concentration of acetate and nitrogen vary were compared.

Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Developments in plant breeding for improved nutritional quality of soya beans I. Protein and amino acid content [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Soya beans, like other legumes, contain low concentrations of the nutritionally essential sulphur amino acid, methionine. Cysteine, although not an essential amino acid because it can be synthesized from methionine, also influences the nutritional ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Sulphur presence in paleokarst infillings and bitumen signs in upper cretaceous carbonates from the Kruja zone (Albania)

open access: yesMicro, Macro & Mezzo Geoinformation, 2021
Kruja zone represents mainly shallow-water carbonate deposits (Cr2-Pg2). They consist of dolomites, limestones with rudists also rich in miliolides and textularides with frequent hiatus, emersions, discontinuity surfaces and even bauxitic horizons ...

Winter treatments against the woolly apple aphid (Eriosoma lanigerum): products and timing of applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In organic apple growing the woolly apple aphid (Eriosoma lanigerum) is still an unsolved problem. Various approaches to use beneficial insects were not really effective. Only winter treatments with mineral oils showed partial and fluctuating success.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
