Osteoarthritis: Epidemiology, Diagnosis, and Treatment

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a multifactorial degenerative joint disease and a leading cause of disability worldwide. This graphical abstract summarizes the epidemiology, diagnostic strategies, and therapeutic approaches of OA. OA development is driven by aging, metabolic dysregulation, and mechanical stress, leading to progressive joint degeneration ...

Interplanetary Tracking of the 23 March 2024 CME: Computer Tomographic Analyses of IPS, White‐Light, and Type II Radio Burst Observations

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract We analyze the propagation of a coronal mass ejection (CME) observed on 23 March 2024, at 01:25 UT by SOHO/LASCO using a multi‐instrument and multi‐method approach. The study combines Interplanetary Scintillation (IPS), type II radio bursts, white‐light, in‐situ observations, and 3D tomographic reconstruction of the inner heliospheric density.

The UK Met Office’s Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) Ensemble Prediction System

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract We describe the 24‐member Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) ensemble prediction system that is used operationally at the UK's Met Office Space Weather Operations Center (MOSWOC) to forecast the arrival time of CMEs at Earth. The ensemble system was built on ad‐hoc assumptions and there is the need to investigate whether the technique can be improved

Soft Proton Environment Modeling for SMILE Using XGBoost and Solar Cycle–Informed Synthetic Data Sets

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Soft proton contamination presents a persistent threat to the performance of space‐based X‐ray observatories such as ESA's upcoming Solar‐wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE). This study develops a machine‐learning framework for modeling soft proton fluxes in the 92.2–159.7 keV range, tailored to SMILE's elliptical, highly ...

New Observations of Cosmic Noise Absorption in the South American Magnetic Anomaly (SAMA) Using a Next‐Generation Riometer

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract This study reports the first observations of cosmic noise power (CNP) and cosmic noise absorption (CNA) obtained with a next‐generation riometer installed at the Southern Space Observatory (SSO/INPE) in Brazil, located within the South American Magnetic Anomaly (SAMA).

Supporting Informed Shutter Operations for SMILE's SXI Using Ensemble Classifiers for Soft Proton High Flux Period Predictions

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Satellite X‐ray imagers are highly vulnerable to contamination by soft protons (∼100 keV), which can trigger spurious charge‐coupled device events and force interruptions in observations. For XMM‐Newton, such contamination reduced usable science time by ∼40%.

QEUV vs. Other EUV Proxies: A Re‐Evaluation of Solar EUV Proxies for Thermospheric and Space Weather Investigations

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract F10.7, Mg II, and F30 are widely used proxies for variability in solar Extreme UltraViolet (EUV, 5–120 nm) irradiance. An alternative proxy for solar EUV variability is QEUV, an indirect measure of total solar EUV irradiance, retrieved from observations of Earth's Far UltraViolet (FUV, 120–300 nm) airglow and from empirically modeled solar EUV
