Transesterification in situ of sunflower seed oil

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Product Research and Development, 1985
Transesterification of sunflower seed oil in situ has produced methyl and ethyl esters in yields greater than 40% of the dry seed weight. This figure compares with a typical yield of ca. 30% when the esters were prepared in the conventional manner from preextracted seed oil. 14 references.

Mineral oil in sunflower seeds: the sources

European Food Research and Technology, 2010
All sunflower oils previously analyzed were found to be somewhat contaminated with mineral oil. Now sunflower seeds harvested manually or mechanically, sampled from the field to the drying at the collection centers, were analyzed in order to determine the sources.

Sunflower seed meal, sunflower oil and full-fat sunflower seeds, hulls and kernels for laying hens

Animal Feed Science and Technology, 1989
Abstract White Leghorn × Australorp hens were given 4 layer diets containing 0, 5.79, 12.19 and 18.97% of undecorticated, oil-extracted sunflower seed meal (SSM) either with or without added sunflower oil (SO) and 4 other diets containing either 2.35% full-fat sunflower seeds (FSS) or 1% sunflower hulls (SH) or 1% SH + SO or 2.0% sunflower kernels ...

Adaptability of Sunflower Hybrids for Seed and Oil Yield

Madras Agricultural Journal, 2009
An investigation was made to test the adaptability of nine high yielding sunflower heterotic hybrids along with three check hybrids for seed yield per plant, oil content and oil yield per plant over three environments viz., rabi, 2005 - 2006(E1), kharif' 2006 (E2) and rabi / summer, 2006 - 2007 (E3).

Rapid determination of wax in sunflower seed oil

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1982
AbstractA rapid turbidimetric method for determining wax content in sunflower seed oil is described. Oil is heated to 130 C, filtered, and after cooling, added to an equal volume of acetone. The mixture is then reheated under tap water to dissolve waxes which may have crystallized and is placed in an ice bath for 5 min.
