Regression Analysis of Solar Radiation and Sunshine Duration

Architectural Science Review, 1996
Regression techniques have been used to investigate the correlations of monthly-average-daily and monthly-average-hourly global, direct and diffuse radiation with bright sunshine hours for Hong Kong. Measured data during the 15-year period from 1979 to 1993 have been used for this study.

Cloudiness and sunshine duration measurements in the U.A.R.

pure and applied geophysics, 1964
Seasonal variations of cloudiness have been studied for the different zones of the United Arab Republic. It was found to be very low and to decrease more towards lower latitudes.

A new perspective on the sunshine duration variability

Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 2019
The sunshine duration data is analysed here from a new perspective, different from the traditional ones. The study is focused on pairs of periods of shining sun (called clear periods) followed by periods with the sun covered by clouds (called dark periods).

Sunshine Duration Prediction Using 1D Convolutional Neural Networks

2019 6th International Conference on Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (ICA), 2019
The duration of solar radiation is one of the essential factors every day, such as agriculture or renewable energy. Forecasting the period of sunshine in various places like Indonesia is difficult. One method that can process sizable historical data for predictions is Deep Learning.

Stochastic models for sunshine duration and solar irradiation

Renewable Energy, 2002
Harmonic analysis of sunshine duration and solar irradiation measured at Sebele, Botswana is carried out. The data used consists of the monthly averages and the Julian-days averages of sunshine duration and solar irradiation sequences. This study involves splitting the time series into deterministic and stochastic components, and determining the ...

Tree‐ring reconstructed sunshine duration over central USA

International Journal of Climatology, 1991
AbstractTree‐ring chronologies of baldcypress (Taxodium distichum) and post oak (Quercus stellata) from the central United States of America are directly correlated with precipitation, and inversely with percentage possible sunshine during the growing season (March‐June).

Estimating clear-sky beam irradiation from sunshine duration

Solar Energy, 2001
Abstract Monthly-averaged climate and turbidity data from five sites in North America and Europe are employed to evaluate the relationships among monthly-averaged observed beam irradiation ( H b and H bn ), clear-sky beam irradiation ( H bc and H bnc ), sunshine duration (s), and daylength (S ...

Observed trends in sunshine duration over South America

International Journal of Climatology, 2011
AbstractIn this work, temporal series of monthly mean values of sunshine duration were studied in five climatic regions of South America. For this purpose, data from 237 meteorological stations throughout South America were taken into account in: Argentina (20), Bolivia (2), Brazil (190), Paraguay (11), Peru (3), and Uruguay (11).

On the variations of sunshine duration in Austria

Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 1992
The seasonal and annual duration of sunshine in Austria during the 30 year period 1960–1989 is analyzed and the trends during this time interval are mapped. It is shown that sunshine decreased in the northern and eastern parts of Austria. In the mountain regions only small changes can be seen but there is some evidence that in the high mountain regions

Solar radiation and sunshine duration in East Asia

Archives for Meteorology, Geophysics, and Bioclimatology Series B, 1981
The relationship between solar radiation and sunshine duration is studied for 132 stations in East Asia. Regression coefficientsa andb in the modified Angstrom formulaQ/Qa = a + b n/N are found to be systematically distributed in the area with low values ofa and high values ofb in the winter maximum/summer minimum regime ofQ/Qa andn/N, and high values ...
