The solar meridional circulation and sunspot cycle variability [PDF]
We have measured the meridional motions of the magnetic elements in the Sun's surface layers since 1996 and find systematic and substantial variations. In general the meridional flow speed is fast at cycle minima and slow at cycle maxima.

Fractal Dimension and Maximum Sunspot Number in Solar Cycle [PDF]
The fractal dimension is a quantitative parameter describing the characteristics of irregular time series. In this study, we use this parameter to analyze the irregular aspects of solar activity and to predict the maximum sunspot number in the following ...

On a centennial timescale, solar activity oscillates quasi-periodically and also tends to occasionally get into a low-activity period. The Dalton Minimum (circa 1790s–1820s) was one of such low-activity periods that had been captured in telescopic ...

Timing Terminators: Forecasting Sunspot Cycle 25 Onset [PDF]
Recent research has demonstrated the existence of a new type of solar event, the “terminator.” Unlike the Sun’s signature events, flares and coronal mass ejections, the terminator most likely originates in the solar interior, at or near the tachocline ...

Relative Sunspot Number Observed from 2002 to 2011 at ButterStar Observatory [PDF]
The ButterStar Observatory at the Dongducheon High School has been working for photographic observations of the Sun since October 16, 2002. In this study, we observed the Sun at the ButterStar observatory for 3,364 days from October 16, 2002 to December ...

Solar Cycle 25 Prediction Using N-BEATS
Solar activities lead to Sun variation with an 11 yr periodicity. The periodic variation affects space weather and heliophysics research. So it is important to accurately predict solar cycle variations. In this paper, we predicted the ongoing Solar Cycle

"Danjon Effect", Solar-Triggered Volcanic Activity, and Relation to Climate Change
The “Danjon effect” is a phenomenon that presents a tendency to concentrate the so-called “dark” total lunar eclipses (DTLE) near solar sunspot cycle minimum phases.

A Unified Shape Model For Sunspot Number Cycles
Modelling and prediction of sunspot number time series is an unavoidable activity in the space object re-entry prediction community. Different mathematical functions have been proposed in the literature as sunspot number cycle model, since the McNish ...

Solar activity cycle 25: the first three years
We analyze features of current solar activity cycle 25 for the first three years of its development (2020–2022). Compared to cycle 24, the current cycle is shown to exceed the previous one in the number of sunspot groups (1.5 times), the number of flares
