Microstructure Characterization of Bending Effects in 304L Stainless Steel Cladded with Low‐Alloy Steel Weld

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Prebending of 304L/Q345R cladded plates significantly alters the subsequent weld thermal cycle and modifies the local interfacial microstructure. Combined electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and microscopy analysis demonstrates that deformation twinning, martensitic transformation, and defect initiation are concentrated at the trimaterial junction,

Computer Modeling of the Ferrite‐To‐Austenite Transformation in a Super‐Duplex Stainless Steel and the Important Role of Trans‐Interface Diffusion

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
An accurate moving boundary model for volume diffusion containing boundary conditions from trans‐interface diffusion (TID) simulates the austenite growth during cooling. TID of Cr, Mo, N and Ni enhance growth kinetics. Without TID, compositions of the interface region change, decreasing the driving force for growth and finally causing numerical ...

Analysis of the influence of the anisotropy induced by cold rolling on duplex and super-austenitic stainless steels

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2013
This report contains the results obtained from the mechanical characterization tests carried out on two different stainless steel (duplex 6%Ni, 22%Cr and super-austenitic 31%Ni, 28%Cr) used for the manufacturing of pipes which are employed in the oil ...

Hot tensile properties and strain hardening behaviour of Super 304HCu stainless steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2017
Super 304HCu austenitic stainless steel containing 2.3–3 (wt.%) of Cu is mainly used in superheaters and reheaters tubing of ultra super critical boilers which operates over 600 °C of steam temperature.

Tailored Hardening and Isothermal Bainitizing of Additively Manufactured Nitrogen‐Enhanced Martensitic Chromium Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Tailored heat treatments transform additively manufactured high‐nitrogen martensitic Cr steel from austenitic as‐built condition to high‐hardness states. Isothermal bainitizing at 250°C generates an ultrafine nanostructure and achieves higher hardness than conventional hardening and tempering, highlighting a promising postprocessing route for laser ...

Investigation of Serrated Flow in Intercritically Annealed Medium Manganese Steel by In Situ Synchrotron X‐Ray Diffraction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Serrations and stepwise austenite phase transformation were observed in cold‐rolled and annealed medium manganese steels. By in situ XRD experiments, these two phenomena were studied simultaneously. The results show that DSA leads to the creation of PLC bands and load drops in the specimen.

Multifaceted Behavior and Versatility Features of Ferritic Stainless Steels, Part II: Investigating Electromagnetic, Mechanical, and Corrosion Behavior

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This review's second part details the mechanical, corrosion, and electromagnetic behaviors of FSSs. It integrates the foundational microstructure (texture/defects/precipitates) and processing effects from Part I to establish and analyze complex property–property interrelationships critical for high‐performance applications.

Experimental Investigation of Electrical Parameter Effects in Wire Arc Atomization of 316L Stainless Steel Powders for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This article presents wire arc atomization of 316L for the production of metallic powders used in additive manufacturing, with a systematic analysis of the influence of arc parameters on particle size. Through the application of dry sieving, scanning electron microscopy, and shape analysis, it is demonstrated that this technique is well‐suited for ...

Multi‐Scale Mechanical Behavior of Additive‐Manufactured 316L Stainless Steel Processed by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The multi‐scale mechanical behavior of additive‐manufactured 316L stainless steel processed by directed energy deposition and high‐pressure torsion is explored. The influence of torsional strain on strength and microstructural evolution is revealed, indicating progressive grain refinement in the ultrafine regime, reaching strength levels nearing 1800 ...
