Analysis of Corrosion and Wall Perforation in the Heat Exchanger Made of AISI 316L Stainless Steel

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Elevated passivation temperature is identified as the dominant factor triggering localized corrosion and subsequent perforation of AISI 316L heat exchanger tubes. Electrochemical and complementary characterization results show that the alloy retains high resistance to general, pitting, and intergranular corrosion, indicating that failure primarily ...

Microstructure and properties of UNS S32750 super-duplex stainless steels processed by hot isostatic pressing

open access: yesFenmo yejin jishu, 2022
The UNS S32750 super-duplex stainless steels were prepared by plasma rotating electrode processing and hot isostatic pressing in this study. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the steels before and after the solution treatment were ...

Hydrogen‐Enhanced Stress Corrosion Cracking of Wire Arc Additive Manufactured Inconel 625 Superalloy in NaCl Solution: Mechanism of Synergistic Degradation

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Hydrogen‐enhanced SCC of WAAM Inconel 625 in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. Hydrogen charging reduces passive film stability (lower corrosion potential) and promotes pitting at Laves phase/matrix interfaces. Stress corrosion cracks propagate along Laves‐rich regions, leading to quasi‐cleavage brittle fracture.

INFLUENCE OF MICROMILLING ON THE SURFACE INTEGRITY OF SUPER DUPLEX STAINLESS STEEL

open access: yesABM Proceedings, 2014
Super duplex stainless steel presents a biphasic structure composed by ferrite and austenite with different characteristics and properties. In the micromilling process the cutting edge radius has similar dimensions to the grain size. The biphasic structure found in this material could influence on the cutting tool life and the surface integrity of the ...

Electrochemical Determination of Ascorbic Acid by Mechanically Alloyed Super Duplex Stainless Steel Powders

open access: yesMetals, 2023
SAF-2507 super duplex stainless steel powders (SDSS) were prepared using a high-energy planetary ball milling process. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows peak broadening after 20 h of ball milling and revealed a phase transformation resulting in a two ...

Computer Modeling of the Ferrite‐To‐Austenite Transformation in a Super‐Duplex Stainless Steel and the Important Role of Trans‐Interface Diffusion

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
An accurate moving boundary model for volume diffusion containing boundary conditions from trans‐interface diffusion (TID) simulates the austenite growth during cooling. TID of Cr, Mo, N and Ni enhance growth kinetics. Without TID, compositions of the interface region change, decreasing the driving force for growth and finally causing numerical ...

Influence of Surface Roughness and Temperature on Niobium Cathodic Cage Duplex Treatment Applied to VP20TS Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Niobium cathodic cage duplex treatment is applied to VP20TS steel to evaluate the influence of surface roughness and temperature on coating performance. Results show that higher temperatures promote thicker nitride layers and increased microhardness, while finer surface preparation enhances adhesion and wear resistance, revealing optimal conditions for

Investigation of Serrated Flow in Intercritically Annealed Medium Manganese Steel by In Situ Synchrotron X‐Ray Diffraction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Serrations and stepwise austenite phase transformation were observed in cold‐rolled and annealed medium manganese steels. By in situ XRD experiments, these two phenomena were studied simultaneously. The results show that DSA leads to the creation of PLC bands and load drops in the specimen.

Fatigue strength assessment of duplex and super-duplex stainless steels by 4R method [PDF]

open access: yesWelding in the World, 2018
Duplex and super-duplex stainless steels are increasingly used in applications where good fatigue strength is demanded in addition to corrosion resistance. In this research work, the fatigue strength of duplex and super-duplex steels was investigated experimentally, using standard fatigue strength assessment methods, and theoretically, using ...

Moment‐curvature behavior of continuous reinforced concrete slab strips—Experimental determination and modeling

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract With the market introduction of new reinforcing materials, such as corrosion‐resistant steel, the effect of their stress–strain relationship on the ductility of reinforced concrete structures needs to be evaluated. Their moment‐curvature behavior significantly influences bending moment redistributions, rotation capacity, and deformation at ...
