Study of Superconducting Fault Current Limiter Functionality in the Presence of Long-Duration Short Circuits

open access: yesEnergies
In this paper, superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) operation in the presence of a long-duration fault is presented. The SFCL device utilizes second-generation high-temperature superconducting (2G HTS) tapes, which exhibit zero resistance under ...

Controllable Superconductivity in Suspended NbSe2

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Suspended NbSe2${\rm NbSe}_2$ provides two complementary routes for controlling superconducting transport. Gate‐driven deformation strains the suspended crystal and tunes its critical temperature and current. Weak thermal anchoring enhances thermal feedback, contributing to multistep hysteresis and negative differential resistance.

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

Current Limiting Characteristics of Parallel-Connected Coated Conductors for High-Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiting Transformer (HTc-SFCLT) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We have been developing superconducting fault current limiting transformer (SFCLT) as a superconducting transformer with current limiting function. As the step-5 of the SFCLT project for the up-graded ratings of current and voltage, in this paper, we ...

Characterizing Biopolymer Electrolytes in Zinc–Air Batteries: Challenges, Best Practices, and a Robust Workflow Guiding Future Research Paths

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based gel polymer electrolytes promise sustainable, mechanically adaptable zinc–air batteries, yet their progress is constrained by inconsistent characterization. This review critically links formulation, structure, interfaces, and cell performance, identifies methodological gaps under alkaline operating conditions, and proposes application ...

A Review of DC Fault Current Limiters for HVDC Systems: Classification and Design Considerations of Non-Superconducting Topologies

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
The rapid expansion of voltage source converter-based high voltage DC grids has made DC fault protection a critical research priority, due to low network impedance and the absence of natural current zero crossings.
