Superconductors and Gravity

open access: yesSymmetry, 2022
We review and discuss some recent developments on the unconventional interaction between superconducting systems and the local gravitational field. While it is known that gravitational perturbations (such as gravitational waves) can affect supercondensates and supercurrents dynamics, we want to focus here on the more subtle superfluid back-reaction ...

NbN films on flexible and thickness controllable dielectric substrates

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
A simple method for preparing superconducting NbN thin films on flexible dielectric substrates with controllable thickness was developed. The structure and surface characteristics and superconducting properties of the flexible film were studied by X-ray ...

RESISTANCE IN SUPERCONDUCTORS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2010
In this pedagogical review, we discuss how electrical resistance can arise in superconductors. Starting with the idea of the superconducting order parameter as a condensate wave function, we introduce vortices as topological excitations with quantized phase winding, and we show how phase slips occur when vortices cross the sample.

Sixteen-Pixel NbN Nanowire Single Photon Detector Coupled With 300-μm Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Niobium nitride (NbN) nanowires have a high repetition rate and efficiency, making them ideal for superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs).

Metamaterial superconductors [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2015
Abstract Searching for natural materials exhibiting larger electron‐electron interactions constitutes a traditional approach to high‐temperature superconductivity research. Very recently, we pointed out that the newly developed field of electromagnetic metamaterials deals with the somewhat related task of ...

Entangled Frequency-Tunable Microwave Photons in a Superconducting Circuit

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
We propose a frequency-tunable source to emit entangled microwave photons on the platform of a superconducting circuit, in which two superconducting transmission-line resonators are coupled via a capacitor and one resonator is inserted with a ...

Picosecond mode switching and Higgs amplitude mode in superconductor-metal hybrid terahertz metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2022
The ultrafast modulation of terahertz (THz) waves is essential for numerous applications, such as high-rate wireless communication, nonreciprocal transmission, and linear frequency conversion.

Topotactic fabrication of transition metal dichalcogenide superconducting nanocircuits

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Superconducting nanocircuits, which are usually fabricated from superconductor films, are the core of superconducting electronic devices. While emerging transition-metal dichalcogenide superconductors (TMDSCs) with exotic properties show promise for ...
