Metamaterial superconductors [PDF]
AbstractSearching for natural materials exhibiting larger electron-electron interactions constitutes a traditional approach to high-temperature superconductivity research. Very recently, we pointed out that the newly developed field of electromagnetic metamaterials deals with the somewhat related task of dielectric response engineering on a sub-100-nm ...

Holographic superconductors [PDF]
It has been shown that a gravitational dual to a superconductor can be obtained by coupling anti-de Sitter gravity to a Maxwell field and charged scalar. We review our earlier analysis of this theory and extend it in two directions. First, we consider all values for the charge of the scalar field.

RESISTANCE IN SUPERCONDUCTORS [PDF]
In this pedagogical review, we discuss how electrical resistance can arise in superconductors. Starting with the idea of the superconducting order parameter as a condensate wave function, we introduce vortices as topological excitations with quantized phase winding, and we show how phase slips occur when vortices cross the sample.

Antiferromagnetic order and spin dynamics in iron-based superconductors [PDF]
High-transition temperature (high-$T_c$) superconductivity in the iron pnictides/chalcogenides emerges from the suppression of the static antiferromagnetic order in their parent compounds, similar to copper oxides superconductors.

Supercurrent in Nodal Superconductors [PDF]
In recent years, a number of nodal superconductors have been identified; d-wave superconductors in high T_c cuprates, CeCoIn$_5$, and \kappa-(ET)_2Cu(NCS)_2, 2D f-wave superconductor in Sr_2RuO_4 and hybrid s+g-wave superconductor in YNi_2B_2C.

Low-Lying Collective Excitations of Superconductors and Charged Superfluids
We investigate theoretically the momentum-dependent frequency and damping of low-lying collective excitations of superconductors and charged superfluids in the BCS–BEC crossover regime.

Ultra-High Field NMR and MRI—The Role of Magnet Technology to Increase Sensitivity and Specificity
“History, of course, is difficult to write, if for no other reason, than that it has so many players and so many authors.” – P. J. Keating (former Australian Prime Minister)Starting with post-war developments in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) a race ...

Superheating field in superconductors with nanostructured surfaces
We report calculations of a DC superheating field Hsh in superconductors with nanostructured surfaces. Numerical simulations of the Ginzburg–Landau (GL) equations were performed for a superconductor with an inhomogeneous impurity concentration, a thin ...
