Active Terahertz Modulator and Slow Light Metamaterial Devices with Hybrid Graphene–Superconductor Photonic Integrated Circuits

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Metamaterial photonic integrated circuits with arrays of hybrid graphene–superconductor coupled split-ring resonators (SRR) capable of modulating and slowing down terahertz (THz) light are introduced and proposed.

A spin–orbit scattering–enhanced high upper critical field at the LaAlO3/KTaO3(111) superconducting interface

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
Spin–orbit interaction is essential to enhance the in-plane upper critical field of two-dimensional superconductors. Here, we report the LaAlO _3 /KTaO _3 (111) superconducting interface ( T _c,0 ≈ 0.475 K) with a high in-plane upper critical field (∼1.6

Challenges and Opportunities of Very Light High-Performance Electric Drives for Aviation

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The demand for alternative fueling methods to reduce the need for fossil fuels is not limited to the electrification of ground vehicles. More-electric and all-electric aircraft pose challenges, with extensive requirements in terms of power density ...

Exploring the Interdependence between Electronically Unfavorable Situations and Pressure in a Chalcogenide Superconductor

open access: yesInorganics, 2023
The development of solids with the requested chemical and physical properties requires a thorough understanding of their electronic structures, as proper knowledge of the electronic structure of a given solid provides invaluable information regarding its

Optical Josephson effects using phase-conjugating mirrors: an analogy with superconductors

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2000
Motivated by the analogy between a phase-conjugating mirror (PCM) and a superconductor, we search for optical counterparts of the well-known DC and AC Josephson effects.

Field-induced superconducting phase in superconductor–normal metal and superconductor-superconductor bilayers [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2011
We study the proximity effect in a superconductor (S)-normal metal (N) bilayer under in-plane magnetic field. A compensation between the Zeeman effect and the energy splitting between bonding and anti-bonding levels leads to a magnetic field induced superconducting phase in the (H,T) phase diagram of the S-N bilayer well above the standard paramagnetic

Adiabatic Pumping in a Superconductor-Normal-Superconductor Weak Link [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2005
We present a formalism to study adiabatic pumping through a superconductor - normal - superconductor weak link. At zero temperature, the pumped charge is related to the Berry phase accumulated, in a pumping cycle, by the Andreev bound states. We analyze in detail the case when the normal region is short compared to the superconducting coherence length.

High-Temperature (Cu,C)Ba2Ca3Cu4Oy Superconducting Films with Large Irreversible Fields Grown on SrLaAlO4 Substrates by Pulsed Laser Deposition

open access: yesCrystals
(Cu,C)Ba2Ca3Cu4Oy is a nontoxic cuprate superconducting material with a superconducting transition temperature of about 116 K. Recently, it was found that bulk samples of this material synthesized under high pressure hold the highest irreversibility line

π-0 transition in superconductor-ferromagnet-superconductor junctions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics Letters, 2001
Superconductor-Ferromagnetic-Superconductor (SFS) Josephson junctions are known to exhibit a transition between $π$ and 0 states. In this note we find the $π-0$ phase diagram of an SFS junction depending on the transparency of an intermediate insulating layer (I).
