Supercontinuum Airy beams

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
Airy beams are of great interest as a result of their unusual characteristics, they are non-diffracting and also propagate along a parabolic path due to the presence of a transversal acceleration component. In this paper the generation of a white light Airy beam is presented, an investigation is also carried out to determine how the properties of an

Supercontinuum sources for metrology

Metrologia, 2009
Supercontinuum (SC) sources are novel laser-based sources that generate a broad, white-light continuum in single-mode photonic crystal fibres. Currently, up to 6 W of optical power is available, spanning the spectral range from 460 nm to 2400 nm. Advances in these sources promise polarized radiant flux with expanded spectral coverage down to 380 nm. We

Supercontinuum Generation in Water

12th International Conference on Fiber Optics and Photonics, 2014
We report efficient generation of a broadband supercontinuum (SC) in water and aqueous gold colloids upon irradiation by intense, near-infrared, femtosecond laser pulses. The SC spectra are rationalized within the framework of a phenomenological self-phase modulation model.

Towards a thermodynamic description of supercontinuum generation

2009 IEEE/LEOS Winter Topicals Meeting Series, 2008
We consider the incoherent nonlinear regime of the supercontinuum generation process in optical fibers. We show that, under certain conditions, the phenomenon of spectral broadening inherent to the supercontinuum generation may be described by simple thermodynamic arguments based on the kinetic wave theory.

Supercontinuum and High-Order Harmonics

2005
Simple experiments, set up to investigate how the coherence properties of short and intense laser pulses are transferred to radiation generated in extremely nonlinear interactions with matter, have given access to a wealth of new information and have allowed unexpected advances in several different fields.

Optical characteristics of supercontinuum generation

Optics Letters, 1990
Experimental evidence is presented that the supercontinuum generated in H2O or D2O is a surface phenomenon whose origin is at the surface of self-trapped filaments. This is done by a comparison of the output patterns produced by spherical and cylindrical focusing lenses as well as comparison of the polarization of the incident and emitted light.

Supercontinuum spectral control

CLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
Supercontinuum (SC) generation in photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) is a cutting-edge phenomenon extensively studied in recent years [1]. SC has found many scientific and technological applications. The control of the SC spectral characteristics is crucial in most of them. A pioneering attempt in this direction was reported in Ref. [2].

Novel supercontinuum sources

Proceedings of 2005 7th International Conference Transparent Optical Networks, 2005., 2005
Microstructured fibers have brought about new possibilities for creating novel coherent light sources. We discuss generation of supercontinuum radiation in these fibers when the optical nonlinearity in the medium is pumped with short mode-locked and Q-switched laser pulses.
