Fluid phase equilibria of the reacting mixture in the dimethyl carbonate synthesis from supercritical CO2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In order to investigate the dimethyl carbonate synthesis from methanol and supercritical CO2, the thermodynamic behaviour of the reacting mixture, i.e. the quaternary methanol/CO2/DMC/water mixture, has to be known.

The Use of Supercritical Fluid Extraction in Carrier Recovery from a Spent Active Carbon–Zinc Acetate Catalyst

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2002
The present paper is aimed at showing the usefulness of supercritical fluid extraction in the removal of organic substances and zinc from the surface of a dangerous waste product, i.e. spent catalyst employed in the manufacture of vinyl acetate.

Supercritical Extraction of Lycopene from Tomato Industrial Waste with Ethane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Supercritical fluid extraction of all-E-lycopene from tomato industrial wastes (mixture of skins and seeds) was carried out in a semi-continuous flow apparatus using ethane as supercritical solvent. The effect of pressure, temperature, feed particle size,

Oxygen-isotope and trace element constraints on the origins of silica-rich melts in the subarc mantle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Peridotitic xenoliths in basaltic andesites from Batan island in the Luzon arc contain silica-rich (broadly dacitic) hydrous melt inclusions that were likely trapped when these rocks were within the upper mantle wedge underlying the arc.

Bidirectional Phase Separation Spinning Under Natural Drying to Prepare Aerogel Fibers for Thermal Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In order to take full advantage of the porous structure generated by phase separation, a bidirectional phase separation spinning method is proposed. The method enables continuous and rapid preparation of aerogel fibers without energy‐intensive additional steps, which significantly reduces energy consumption and processing time, and positions aerogel ...

SuFEx‐Enabled Catalytic Synthesis of Fluorescent Organosulfur Polymers for the Rapid Detection of Explosives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rapid detection of explosives is essential for public safety and national security. Here, conjugated polymers (SPs), incorporating pentiptycene with organosulfur side chains, have been reported using sulfur(VI)‐fluoride exchange (SuFEx). The SP‐7 polymer exhibited exceptional fluorescence quenching (>99% in 60 s) for detecting nitroaromatic explosives.
