2‐Formyl‐5‐(hydroxymethyl)furan (HMF) Derivatives as Active Complexing Agent for CO2 Insertion Reaction

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Renewable‐based furanics derived from 5‐HMF are used to synthesize cyclic organic carbonates (COCs) via CO2 insertion into epoxides. The BHTHF/NaBr complexing system shows high activity, achieving 94–99% epoxide conversion and 70–99% COC selectivity under mild conditions.

Microscale physics and macroscale convective heat transfer in supercritical fluids [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Driven by fundamental thermodynamic efficiency considerations, an emerging trend in the energy and propulsion systems is that the working fluid operates at a pressure above the critical pressure. Energy transport is thus accompanied by dramatic and strongly nonlinear variations of thermophysical properties, which cause abnormal heat transfer behavior ...

Enantioselective Anion‐Binding‐Catalyzed Nucleophilic Addition to 4‐Quinolones

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Accepted Article.
Chiral quinolones and their derivatives are predominant synthetic building blocks and pharmacological agents. Nevertheless, their synthesis mostly relies on transition‐metal‐catalyzed enantioselective 1,4‐additions of organometallic reagents such as Grignard, organozinc or organoboron species for alkylation, arylation and alkynylation reactions. Herein,

Comprehensive lipidome of human plasma using minimal sample manipulation by liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView., 2023
Rationale The present work shows comprehensive chromatographic methods and MS conditions that have been developed based on the chemical properties of each lipid subclass to detect low‐abundance molecular species. This study shows that the developed methods can detect low‐ and/or very‐low‐abundant lipids like phosphatidic acid (PA) in the ...

Influence of Modifiers on Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) and Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE), Part I

open access: yes, 2017
It is important to understand the mechanism and implications of different modifiers on analytical and preparative processes under chromatography with supercritical fluids (SFs) and under extraction with SFs.

Ab initio intermolecular interactions mediate thermochemically real-fluid effects that affect system reactivity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The properties of supercritical fluids are dictated by intermolecular interactions that involve two or more molecules. Such intermolecular interactions were described via intermolecular potentials in historical supercritical combustion modeling studies, but have been treated empirically and with no consideration of radical interactions or multi-body ...

Turbulence signatures of natural river morphology in four dimensions

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 39, Issue 1, Page 122-133, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Turbulent flow in natural river channels drives geophysical processes and exerts a fundamental influence on aquatic biota. An extensive range of turbulence properties have previously been synthesized into four categories or “dimensions” with ecological relevance: intensity, periodicity, orientation and scale (IPOS).
