Rheological Characterization and Multi‐Regime Viscosity Modeling of Diluted Polyethylene Mixtures

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
This study maps the flow behavior of low‐density polyethylene in a recycling solvent from dilute solutions to entangled melts. By integrating time–concentration and time–temperature superposition, and coupling three complementary rheometry methods, a unified semiempirical model accurately predicts steady‐shear viscosity over nine decades of viscosity ...

Observations and numerical simulations of a valley‐exit wind in the Alpine Bolzano basin

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The evolution and spreading of the nocturnal valley‐exit wind flowing from the Isarco Valley into the Bolzano basin, in the Italian Alps, are found to be influenced by the basin temperature stratification. Measurements and high‐resolution simulations show that a cold‐air pool favors an upward trajectory of the flow at the exit of the valley.

Redistributive effects of unsteady flow regimes downstream of reservoirs

open access: yesRiver, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding unsteady flow regimes in river channels downstream of a reservoir, is essential for predicting and regulating water level and flow velocity in the lower basin. Using hourly observations of discharge and water level at Xiangjiaba Station from 2018 to 2022, an evaluation indicator was proposed to analyze unsteady flow regimes ...

Experimental Investigation of Performance of Horizontal and Vertical Screen on Energy Dissipation of Inclined Drop

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک, 2020
Inclined drop is one of the supercritical flow producers used in open channels to reduce slope and elevation of the ground. Given that the application of horizontal and vertical screen in the downstream of this drop as an energy dissipater can be ...

3D‐Printed Crosslinked Nanocellulose‐MXene Hydrogels and Aerogels with High Strength and Conductivity

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents a robust strategy for 3D printing conductive, mechanically resilient MXene–CNF composite structures using a single‐step freeze‐induced crosslinking method. The printed architectures remain stable in both wet and dry states, exhibit high electrical conductivity and mechanical strength, and demonstrate practical application in fully ...

The Breaking and Scattering of the Internal Tide on a Continental Slope

open access: yes, 2011
A strong internal tide is generated in the Luzon Strait that radiates westward to impact the continental shelf of the South China Sea. Mooring data in 1500-m depth on the continental slope show a fortnightly averaged incoming tidal flux of 12 kW m−1, and

Influence of Steel Recycling on Phase Transformation in Medium‐Manganese Third‐Generation Advanced High‐Strength Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
On the pathway to climate‐neutral steel production, recycling fractions will necessarily increase over time. Since alloying elements will enrich progressively, as they cannot be removed economically from the melt, processes need to be adjusted.

Nature‐Positive Materials Engineering: Carbon Electrodes from Satoyama Biomass

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Nature‐positive materials engineering can link satoyama forest stewardship with the design of carbon electrodes for batteries, supercapacitors, and electrocatalysis. By turning underused firewood and charcoal resources into functional carbons, this approach reduces mining footprints while supporting biodiversity, landscape resilience, and regional ...
