Density and phenology of the invasive mealybug Delottococcus aberiae on citrus: implications for integrated pest management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
[EN] Delottococcus aberiae De Lotto (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is a new invasive citrus pest in Spain. It causes severe fruit distortions and, as a new invasive mealybug, there is a lack of information about its biology.

Prey Range and Voracity of Main Insect Natural Enemies of Pests in Corsican Clementine Orchards

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
To assess the biocontrol potential on the main arthropod pests of clementine orchards in Corsica, laboratory experiments were carried out using five potential predators. Their prey range and voracity were tested on three pest species. Then, a global predation rate index was calculated at the scale of the entire community of insect predators.

Carboniferous fossils enlighten the systematics and evolution of Hemiptera

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 12, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract Fossils are witnesses to the evolutionary processes undergone by living lineages. The earliest occurrence of clades provides rich insights into the timing of diversification of lineages and better delimits the groups that compose them. Hemiptera are a remarkable order within the insects due to their high morphological and ecological diversity.

Pest categorisation of non‐EU Margarodidae

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 17, Issue 4, April 2019., 2019
Abstract The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of species in the family Margarodidae (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha; Coccoidea). Of 107 species of Margarodidae, 97 are not known to occur in the EU. Margarodids are cosmopolitan soil‐dwelling species. The nymphs suck on the roots of host plants, while the adults have no mouthparts and do not

Exploring hymenopteran parasitoid communities and their hosts: A comparative study of farmland and semi‐natural ecotones with focus on pentatomoid bugs and their antagonists

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 1, Page 118-127, February 2026.
Farmland ecotones support high parasitoid diversity, despite lower arthropod richness compared to semi‐natural habitats. Farmland ecotones support high pentatomoid bug abundance, while pentatomoid parasitoids were equally abundant and diverse in both ecotones.

Evolutionary conservation of candidate osmoregulation genes in plant phloem sap‐feeding insects

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 25, Issue 3, Page 251-258, June 2016., 2016
Abstract The high osmotic pressure generated by sugars in plant phloem sap is reduced in phloem‐feeding aphids by sugar transformations and facilitated water flux in the gut. The genes mediating these osmoregulatory functions have been identified and validated empirically in the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum: sucrase 1 (SUC1), a sucrase in glycoside ...

First records of Aulacaspis tubercularis, Icerya seychellarum and Protopulvinaria pyriformis on Persea indica

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 55, Issue 2, Page 328-334, August 2025.
Abstract Persea indica (Lauraceae) is an endemic evergreen tree of the Macaronesian Laurisilva forests, valued for its ecological importance, ornamental appeal and bioactive compounds. We report, for the first time, the presence of three scale insect species (Superfamily Coccoidea), namely Aulacaspis tubercularis, Icerya seychellarum and ...
