Superficial femoral artery: current treatment options
European Radiology, 2006Treatment of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) has been among the least effective of all endovascular procedures in terms of long-term patency. The relatively small vessel lumen, in conjunction with a high plaque burden, slow flow, and a high frequency of primary occlusions, contributes to a considerable rate of acute technical failures.

Superficial Femoral Artery Catheterization
American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1972Leg length measurements were obtained in 250 congenital heart disease patients who had undergone puncture or incision of the right superficial femoral artery at cardiac catheterization. The data give no indication that the procedure results in a notable discrepancy between the length of the lower extremities. It is concluded that significant inequality

Superficial Femoral-Profunda Femoris Artery Transposition
Archives of Surgery, 1980Generally, either reconstruction of or bypassing the femoropopliteal artery is used in lower-limb ischemia. During the last three years, five patients with advanced aortoiliac atherosclerotic occlusive disease, occlusion of the superficial femoral arteries, and multiple stenotic lesions of the profunda femoris artery underwent aortofemoral bypass ...

ENDARTERECTOMY OF THE SUPERFICIAL FEMORAL ARTERY
Surgical Clinics of North America, 1999Semiclosed endarterectomy of the SFA belongs in the armamentarium of the vascular surgeon. New technology offers the possibility of performing this less invasive operation so that only a single incision is needed to obtain access to the artery and perform remote disobliteration. Strong indications show that the anticipated restenosis of long, segmental,

Endarterectomized Superficial Femoral Artery as an Arterial Patch
Archives of Surgery, 1985Eighty-six patients underwent 90 profundaplasties for lower extremity ischemia using endarterectomized superficial femoral artery (ESFA) or vein as an arterial patch. Standard length profundaplasty was performed in 60 limbs and extended profundaplasty in 28. Seventy-two were performed for limb salvage and 18 for severe claudication.

Superficial Femoral-Profunda Femoris Artery Transposition
Archives of Surgery, 1981To the Editor .—Faro et al described an ingenious technique to restore flow into a severely diseased profunda femoris artery and to maintain the patency of the aortofemoral limb of a bypass (Archives1980;115:1111-1115). I submit, however, that an extensive profunda endarterectomy followed by the extension of the limb of the aortofemoral bypass over the

[Aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery].
Chirurgia italiana, 1984The authors start from a case of aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery, they had the opportunity to observe, and discuss the etiopathogenetic, diagnostic and clinical problems involved in this disease. Then, they dwell upon the main therapeutical solutions suggested, and declare inclined to endoaneurysmography with interposition of autologous or ...

Mycotic aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery
Irish Journal of Medical Science, 1983The successful management of a mycotic aneurysm of the superficial femoral arter, secondary to pneumococcal septicaemia, by suture occlusion of the entry and exit vessels, is reported. Mycotic aneurysms, because of their tendency to rupture or produce metastatic infection, are dangerous lesions requiring early operative correction.

We report successful replacement of infected axillofemoral bypass with a combined femoral vein and superficial femoral artery graft. The new graft was transferred through the tunnel left after infected prosthesis removal. Good early and long-term results indicate that this may be a sufficient procedure.

Ruptured aneurysm of the superficial femoral artery.
Panminerva medica, 1995True isolated "arteriosclerotic" aneurysms of the superficial femoral artery are rare. One case of isolated superficial femoral artery aneurysm and review of literature is reported.Case report and review of the literature.Hospitalized care.An 80-year old man presenting with rupture of superficial femoral artery aneurysm was observed and treated with ...
